I am trying to get the full set of airports trailling this, but last week the Dept fo homeland security announced that it will start fingerprinting all fingers of visitors to the country at ten airports, not just the two fingers.
this is to start this Autumn.
The airports mentioned out the ten are
NY JFK
Chicago
Miami
Boston
Washington Dulles

With the problems of getting a clean print at the moment of just the index finger, this must slow the process of entering the country down.

My husband was told to wipe his finger tip on his forehead in Newark last week. Adds moisture apparently. We looked rather confused when I asked we asked why.

moisture/grease. It MAY be that your skin dehydrates with the flying and that it is a little too dry for the machine to get a good contact/image... or it could be something totally different... ;)

Sebum is the light greasy covering on the skin, it is also allegedly good for preventing fizzy drinks bubbling over the glass!

The immigration rigmarole is something we aficionados will just have to put with in order to get to our favoutite holiday destination although I suspect it will deter the less committed travellers.

However, given the technology involved, why is it not feasible to go though a one time fingerprint and iris scan process with an official and then for future visits, go though an automated entry process? It would be a lot quicker and is only a small refinement to the automatic departure process that currently exists at some US gateways.

This is definitely in the works, but is not ready to roll out wholesale yet, apparently. There may be a charge for it, however.

Just remember not to wipe your forehead with your finger afterwards as you may look a bit of a wally!!:lmao:

Cath :thumbsup2
