If you plan to use an agency, did you check the "confirmed" or "dedicated" reservations available on the websites? It seems like a lot of owners are either making resies for themselves and later finding out they can't use them, or think that they can get rid of their points faster if they make a resie and can find someone who wants those exact dates at that resort.
I mentioned in another post that there are something like 400 confirmed resies on one agency's website and 60 on another.
If you put in a request for next year and are in the agency's queue, you can't get matched until an owner contacts the agency and says that they have points to rent and that their home resort is the one you want. (Each DVC contract has a home resort, and from 7-11 months out owners can only book their home resort.)
The number of points required for your stay also will be a factor, because not every owner has a ton of points to rent out. One night in a studio in September versus 7 nights in a 2-bedroom in early April makes a big difference in finding an owner who can make the resie.
