It will be two moms and 5 children... ages 4,8,10,10,10

Will will all get to preboard on SW together so we can sit together? Or will they make us break up into two groups (mom with 8 &10) and (Mom with 4, 10,10) We will have booked our flight together?

Also, what are the seat configurations? 3 and 3?? I have treid to look on SW but can not fin this info.

Thanks
Lisa

I'm thinking that the mom with the 4 y.o. will preboard with her family. Even though you are traveling together, the other family doesn't have a need to preboard. If the preboarding family sits toward the back of the plane and the other family has A boarding tickets, then it's quite possible to have seats together.

There are 3 seats on each side.

It really just depends on how crowded the plane will be for that flight. But, more than likely if you head for the back of the plane you should be able to sit together. It seems like most of the A people head for the front of the plane.

No, only the parent with the 4yo will be allowed to preboard, if they don't suspend preboarding, which has been known to happen.
the advice to head to the back of the plane is excellent.
Also, make sure you check in online, that way, if preboarding is suspended you will have a shot at an A pass. The person with the older children should definitely check in on line.
the seats are 3 and 3.

SW planes are 3 and 3. Southwest may or may not allow you all to pre-board. As long as you get in "A" or "B" you all will get to sit together. I travel each year with another Mom and her children and we are a group of 7. We usually sit with the 6 across and then 1 of us behind or we (Moms) sit with the youngest and put 2 in front of us and 2 behind. MPO is that you really don't need to preboard if you have a plan on how you will be sitting.

Online check-in makes a huge difference and get your group A pass. Alsomake sure you're at the airport EARLY---->>>>another biggie, although annoying,is to sit on the floor of the A rope aisle. I always thought this was so silly until I realized that these people were going to get to sit together. You can believe that my group and I arrived early and grabbed the choice floor seats on the return flight!

I have been reading posts that talk about checking in online at the "24 hr mark" etc for SW. Is this easy to do? We are hoping to get a good deal for a SWA flight in July for our honeymoon, and would like to have a good shot at sitting together. What do you do to check in/get boarding passes online? To the OP, sorry to hijack your thread, just not understanding some of the posted suggestions:confused: ! TIA:goodvibes

I thought this was silly too....until we got to the airport one time and there are no seats to sit in so we just sit on the floor in line. I don't like to sit and wait so I do not get to the airport until an hour before my flight so most times there are no seats left in the waiting area.

It is very easy to check in online. Just go to the website and check it out. It is very odd not to sit with your group on a SW flight. As long as you are in group "A" or "B" there should be on problems. One time my family got "C" and we had some people move so we could sit together in 2 rows. Since it is only 2 of you you need not worry. Make sure you check out SWA reward program. It is so easy to get free flights.

do check in at the 24 hour mark...is your flight is at 10a...check in at 10a the day before. If you have a laptop with you do so for the way home.....preboard at MCO (for way home) was for kids 3 and under....
on the way there...it was the same...mostly those with strollers & car seats.

have fun.

oh...the mom with 4, 10 & 10 may get to preboard so these 4 can save the other seats....shouldn't be a problem...most people avoid kids...:rotfl: that's how I got the bulkhead seats!!

1) Except is unusual circumstances, people at the back of the A line - or front of the B line - have no problem getting seats together. I always board at the end of the A's - no need to wait in any line, just join when the A's are almost all onboard. As an added benefit, going at the end of the A's gives you control over who you sit near (and not near).

2) If you are flying SW, do check in online. Period. It's very easy for your flight out. Flight home is a smidge tougher. But guest services at your hotel or at a park can check you in. Or you can have a friend back home do it if you give them your name and reservation number (there are numerious threads on this if you want more detail.)
