Questions???

I have a couple of questions,

First, will my 400 speed film need to be handsearched at the airport either before it is shot or after it is shot. i can't remember.

secondly, I am flying american, I do not want to check luggage. Can each of the party have two carryons? we are thinking a small rolling luggage and a backpack each. What do you guys think?

American's website says you can have a carry on and one personal item (i.e. purse). I flew from Dallas to San Antonio in July and used just a carry on, because I too did not want to check baggage. When we were coming back, there was a lady and a little girl at SAT. The little girl had a regular size carry on and a regular size back pack. The lady was arguing that the backpack counted as a personal item, but American said one of the little girls bags would have to be checked as they would not have room if everyone wanted to put two things in the overhead bins. The lady was very irate and said she didn't have time to go back and check the bag as baggage, but American was having none it and told her one of the little girl's bags had to be checked or she could leave it, but it was not going on the plane as two carry ons. The rep said in no uncertain terms that a full size backpack was not considered a personal item like a purse, but as a carry on bag that would need to go in an overhead bin and so counted as the allowed carry on. They were really causing a scene, but the American rep never backed down and the lady and little girl finally stomped off to get one of the bags checked I suppose since I saw them later on the plane.
