My son is scheduled to meet with an advisor at his school tomorrow to discuss his desire to participate in the Disney College Program.

What questions should my son ask his advisor?

Thanks!

I highly suggest that he gets a very clear understanding of whether or not he can get credits for participating, what kind of credits they count as, what he would need to do to get those credits, etc. The program is a lot of fun, but if it ends and you find yourself in a crappy situation at school... well, that's not so fun.

Thanks Zephyr!

If he has any fiancial aid, how will that be effected? I didn't get credit while on the college program, but my school has a no credit course I signed up for. I had to pay a very small fee, this held my spot as a student so I would be able to come back after the program with no problem. It also allowed me to remain a full time student, which was necessary to stay on my parents' health insurance and for my loans. He should see if there is some kind of internship class or if he could take online classes to keep his student standing. Every school is different about how they handle the program.

Also depending on the school, the advisor may not know much about the program. I would consider going on the CP website and printing out info about it to show your advisor. It may be helpful to to bring info about the classes offered down there to see if he could get credit for taking any. I know some advisors at my school are hesitant about the program, but If you go in prepared and with different options in mind, hopefully you can work somthing out.
