Questions Regarding 2 & 3 Bdrm Suites at DLH

This October we are planning a trip to Disneyland with my sister's family. I was looking at prices and packages on Disneyland's site and found out there are such suites at the DLH. (I had no idea. We usually stay at my in-laws in Corona, so we never stay at the hotel.)

It seems like it may be cheaper to get a suite and split the cost but wanted to know a few things before I approach her with the idea. (I think she'd LOVE it, and our kids would have a blast together in a big hotel room.) So, here's what I was wondering:

1. How many people can each room sleep?
2. How many bathrooms are in each suite. Even if she opts to stay somewhere else, a room with an extra bathroom sounds mighty nice.
3. If you stayed in one of these suites, how was your experience? View? Location?

We're pretty set on the DLH. Our daughter is dying to try the monorail slides, and we want to treat my younger sister, who has been living with us, to a Disney hotel experience since she hasn't done so in years.

ETA: One more question. I know October can be warm enough for swimming. Is the pool heated if it's not? Last time we went to SoCal in October, it was plenty hot but my in-laws pool was freezing!

I have to take my daughter to gymnastics and won't be back until later, so if I don't respond, Thanks in advance!!!! I'm really curious about this and thought I'd ask here first. :thumbsup2

FYI 2 rooms are considerably cheaper than the suites in almost all cases.

We had a three room suite at the DLH last christmas for our wedding/family reunion.

We were in the frontier tower, 8th floor, looking towards GCH. The suites in the frontier tower are usually at the ends of the halls, and are the only rooms with balconys.

1. Our three rm suite was like this. The main room with the large living rm and kitchen area had one bdrm with a king size bed, and it's own bathroom with double sinks. The living rm area also had a half bath plus the couch turned into a queen size bed. The second room had again a king size bed it's own bathroom. The third room connects through the second room and had two queen beds and it's own bathroom.

2. So between the three rooms, we had a total of three full baths, plus one half bath. Could have slept up to 8 ppl if you went two to every bed. We only had 5 ppl so lots of space for everyone.

We loved it, the rooms are nicely redone, and very spacious in the frontier tower. Loved having the balconys off of two of the bedrooms. Because there were corner suites windows on every wall, wonderful light.

Mousekeeping was fantastic as usual.

Thanks!

I love that there is a kitchen!!! We have small kids, and I hate having to wash sippy cups, bottles, and snack containers in hotel bathroom sinks. It hasn't killed anyone yet, but it always skeeves me out. It'd be nice to be able to pick up some cereal and stuff for the mornings, too. I never even thought to ask about a kitchen in the first place. It's a definite bonus. And extra bathrooms. :cloud9: The suite sounds heavenly!

The three-bedroom sounds like it would be big enough. I considered doing multiple rooms, but this will be the first family trip we've done in years. My family is foregoing our usual trips this year (summer, spring break, and occasionally fall), so the money we save can be put towards the big one in October. My sister's family hasn't been in about 5 years, so as the Official Family Disney Vacation Planner, I see it as a great bonding opportunity. The nieces and nephews always talk about going together, and I think it would be so much fun for them to wake each other up and peek through the blinds every morning to say hello to a Disney day. (Growing up there were 8 kids in my family, and we always got the biggest kick out of the giant suites my dad would sometimes get on vacation.)

Thanks again! I really appreciate it!

Keep in mind, the kitchen is not a true kitchen like the Villas at the Grand Californian. It only has a refrigerator and microwave.

True, there is no stove. However it does have a large breakfast bar with three tall chairs on one side, plus a good sized kitchen sink, and the fridge was big enough to hold the top tier of our wedding cake :rotfl: We had as my son called it "fridge cake" for days. :lmao:

Lots of counter space. It was a large enough space that two adults could easily fit in the area while one used the sink etc, and still be able to move around eachother without issue.

Now this is the suite in the frontier tower, the size and layout in the other two towers may not be exactly like the one we had. When we go back with more then just the two of us next year, we will request the suite's again in the frontier tower because of the balconys, and we already know how large the rooms are.

That's okay if it's not a true kitchen although I can certainly see how that could affect someones's plans. I just figured we'd have cereal in the mornings and snacks on hand for the mid-day break.

I just called and found out our group (11 total) will fit in the 3-bedroom. All we need to do is nail down the dates. :woohoo:

I agree with Virgoinab about the amount of space. This was fine for us, as well. We also had the end 2 BR Lock-off on the 7th floor (we didn't opt for the connecting third bedroom) and found it to be very spacious. In fact, the rest of the king bedroom space was almost as large as half of the living room.

Warning - the bed used to be pretty tall - not sure if they changed this with the rehab. We stayed there when I was 8 months pregnant and I had to climb onto the ottoman in order to get into and out of bed! :rotfl:

You also can't beat the view from that room - watching fireworks from there is incredible!

Yup those corner suites in the Frontier tower are perfect for watching the fireworks.

Really nice to sit outside, have a cocktail and watch the show.

I am kinda tall so the bed height was not an issue for me, but they are kinda high, and I have to say I am :rotfl: cause when I was pregnant I had to roll into bed, but never needed a step :rotfl:

What do they usually run? I'm guessing 1k+ a night? I know you're set on the dlh....but look into renting DVC points as well. The Grand Villa would be something!

The villas are booking up quickly now as the 7 month window is open for all DVC members. I just looked and there is 2br availability from October 10 on, but if OP is looking to rent points, they had better do it very quickly. The grand villas are booked up through the 15th with the exception of one night earlier in the month.

We just stayed in a 3 bedroom suite last month. There were 11 of us total, although two of those were in pack n' plays. We stayed on the 11th floor of the main tower (I forget the name right now!). Our room was exactly as Virgoinab described, except we did not have a balcony & we overlooked the pools.

It was plenty of room for us, but like was said it is not a true kitchen - more a of a wetbar. It does have bar stools, but does not have a stove or microwave (and the hotel says no microwaves due to fire hazard). So it is a mini fridge, a sink & counter space. But it is helpful for washing sippy cups & bottles.

I did take some pictures of the room, so when I get on our other computer I will post them.
