Questions re. SWA credit

Our flight to MCO just came down $20.00 per ticket. So, I rebooked and got a $60.00 credit.

Here's where my questions come in. The background info.: I booked our flights one way instead of round trip. On May 6, I booked our return trip because it was at $58.00, which was a fantastic price (still is - it has gone up since we booked). I didn't book our flight to WDW at that point because it was at $109.00 and had been sitting there for a while. I had seen it cheaper at one point, but didn't book, so I wanted to wait and see if it came down again. Anyway, I waited as long as I could, but started to get nervous that the the flight would fill up, so I booked it on May 16 at $109.00. I've been checking the flight every day to see if it was reduced again, and today it's at $89.00. So, as I said, I rebooked and got the credit. So...

Question 1. Can we apply the credit to our return flight or does it have to be applied to an entirely new reservation?

Question 2. If it has to be applied to a new reservation, I'm confused about the date. I know it has to be within a year of purchase, but, would that be May 16, the day I originally purchased our flight to MCO? Or, would it be today, the day I rebooked? Or, would it be May 6, the day I booked our return flight?

Thanks for your help! :goodvibes

Your situation has me a little confused. You are saying that you have your flights both booked (each one way), and that your arrival to MCO dropped so you rebooked and got the credit, right? If that is the case, the credit would be used for a new reservation. I don't think you can apply it to a ticket that is already paid for and get a partial refund. If I've misunderstood your situation, sorry.

In either case, your credit for your flight down must be used within 1 year of the original purchase date. So you must use it by May 16th, 2010. And in that case, I think you actually need to TRAVEL by that date, not just use the credit by booking a flight later in the year. You can get them extended, but I don't think that would be worth it for a 60 dollar credit.

I got a fantastic deal today and booked the flight. I wasnt able to reach hubby and confirm dates so had to guess. If I need to change dates a little, how do I do that (SWA)

forgot to ask. I know if the flight is more or less the differencfe is made up, but are there any fees to change dates?

When you go to SW website, you can click on "view or change your flight" then enter your information. Click on the flight you want to change and book what you want. There is not fee for changing, but like you said if the flight is more expensive you will pay the difference (if it is cheaper you get a credit).

Just to clarify, I meant since I booked each way separately, could I apply the credit from the flight home to the flight to WDW. Sorry if that was confusing. But, based on your answer, it seems we need to apply the funds to an entirely new trip. Which is fine by us. :goodvibes Thanks so much for your help!

I bought tickets for September and they went down to $58.00. I was informed that I have a credit. The credit has to be used within a year of when the ticket was bought. I bought the ticket on 4/15. So I have to use the tickets before that date. My trip has to be completed before 4/15. So I can't call next year on 4/15 and book a trip for September again. I have to finish travel by 4/15. I was bummed about that but its a good thing my relatives travel a lot and can use the credit. The credit can be used in another person's name. I hope I didn't confuse:confused: anyone. :thumbsup2

Booked is the key word there. If you had only booked the flight to MCO and then it dropped, you could use that credit for the return trip. I don't think you can apply the credit to any existing reservations though.
