Hello!

I am planning to go to DLRP, in Dec 2007 for my birthday & New Year, 28th-1st. So I am here to ask your advice.

Who should I book with?
When should I book?
What tickets do I need?
How much should I budget?
How should I travel?

Any help much appreciated!

Hi,

You can book direct with Disneyland Paris, which is usually cheaper for the onsite hotels, you can book just Hotel and tickets and book your own transport or a package which includes transport.
If you want to stay offsite it is usually cheaper to book direct with the hotel it self, for example the Holiday inn website.

Based on where you live I would think the eurostar would be the easest option as it takes you right to the Parks, though you could also look at some budget airlines.

For december 2007 you should be able to book in June next year.

If you book a disney hotel then tickets are included for the length of stay so if you go for 3 nights you will get tickets for 4 days. They are hopper tickets so you can park hop.

If you stay offsite you best option may be to buy an Annual passport.

Who to book with? Pretty much up to you. I use either Leisure Direction or Clippers Quay Travel (both on google) others book direct through Disney, others use other agents. There's not a lot in it to be honest, pricewise.

When to book? AFAIK the Christmas 2007 prices won't be released until about june.

How to ge there? Entirely up to you. do you want to drive? (cheapest way) fly? (takes a fair amount of time to get from the airport unless you pay for private transfers) Eurostar?

My preferred method of transport is the Eurostar. Its fast and gets you straight there with no faffing about. As you live in Reading its only a short train journey to Waterloo so seems like the sensible option.

Have a look through the New Year threads on here to get an idea about prices for restaurants over that period as they are pretty pricey for table service. Other than that you really need to answer the questions I asked first of all before we can give you any idea about budget.

As you live in Reading its only a short train journey to Waterloo so seems like the sensible option.

Not too sure if everyone is aware of this yet, but Eurostar have set a date for their move to St Pancras - it is 14th November 2007. Still easy to get too from Paddington station though

Well there will be a group of us but we will all organise our own trips as most will only go for New Year so it is just for 2 people.

I would like to stay onsite and go on the eurostar I think. Not got a lot of money to spend but we have a whole year to save and it will be my birthday present as well.

Okay, so you are looking at 4 nights/5 days? (Arriving 28th leaving 1st) For 2 people. Looking at the brochure prices for this Winter the prices for 2 people going on Eurostar are as follows:

Disneyland Hotel £906 per person
Hotel New York £608 pp
Newport Bay £551 pp
Sequoia Lodge £510 pp
Hotel Cheyenne £452 pp
Santa Fe £414 pp
Holiday Inn £501 pp
Explorers £564 pp

All prices include hotel, breakfast, Eurostar and passes. I'd add on between £100 and £150 a day for food and spends, depending on what you want to buy/drink and where you want to eat. Hope that helps to give you an idea regarding how much you will need to take.

Thanks Amanda. Part of me says go for the cheapest and part of me says go for the Sequoia Lodge as we looked in this hotel in Disneyland LA and thought it was really nice, is it worth the extra £100 a person over the Santa Fe?

I would say yes, the Sequoia lodge sounds wonderfull at christmas.

I've never stayed at the Sequoia Lodge at Christmas but I will be off to the bar there this christmas. I'll attempt to take some 'research' photos (I have to find something to do - the parks shut at 7pm!

We stayed at the Santa Fe for our first visit and it was okay, but just okay. The rooms were alright, basic and fine for sleeping in but I wouldn't want to spend much time in the complex. I think that if it is a special occasion I'd be wanting to upgrade. We are going to the Sequoia Lodge in January, mainly because of recommendations on here that it is lovely in the Winter, there is the bar with the big log fires and so on.
