Please help, I want to know what are the crowds like the week after July4th. It will be myself and son age 10. We will be offsite Homewood suites. Is it close to parks like they claim? I'm at one that says "nearest US"We will fly in and rent car. I plan to purchase full express tickets for rides or is that practical? Any other tips or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Have you looked up the prices for express pass for both of you? My guess would be they would cost the max at that time since it's in the middle of the summer. I don't have the price in front of me but I thought it was $89 per person for the unlimited express pass. So basically your looking at $180 a day on top of you hotel to get the front of the line.

I would consider staying on site. The cost for the on site hotel that includes free express passes for all room guest will most likely be close to the same of the price you would pay for hotel + express passes (unless your hotel is free or a drastically reduced price) and you will be on site and the actually hotels are amazing.

Just some FYI. Happy travels!

with July being hot and crowded, you would really appreciate staying on site.

you could return to the onsite hotel in the afternoon and swim or just relax at your hotel pool.

being able to take a break from the heat and crowds will give you a more relaxing vacation and fun time at the darkside.

you would not need a rental car if you stay onsite.

Not sure where that hotel is..The Crowds Calendars are predicting heavy crowds (9 out of 10) even after 4th of July .Express passes ( just the pass NOT tickets included ). Just for IOA are $64.99 PER person .They are PARK and date specific and non-refundable.Add to that admission for each of you, plus the cost of your hotel and It might be cheaper just to stay onsite .Personally given how busy summer is and with the new ride opening, If you can swing staying onsite I would.

If it is not possible, than I recommend getting to the parks well before scheduled rope drop ( since they start letting people in about 15 mins before) .Hit the more popular things first ( at IOA- Harry Potter and Spiderman) at the Studios ( Transformers first). If you think you might want express passes wait till you get there and see if you need them. They sell them throughout the parks.

I'm there for all of July 4th week each year and I can tell you it would not be fun without staying onsite. It is hot, humid, and crowded. If you can swing it stay at least one night for 2 days of unlimited express. If possible stay 2 nights so you don't have to pack up the next morning.
