We've never done online check in before. We have some preferences noted on our account, but not specific room numbers.
When do you find out which room you are assigned?
What if you don't like the room you are assigned, can it be changed? And how do you get it changed?

Thanks!

You will find out your room number via text (if your mobile number is in your MDE). But you won't get your room assignment until it is ready for occupancy.

Getting your assigned room changed can be difficult with DVC. It is unusual for the resorts to have extra rooms available. Unlike hotels, timeshares tend to operate at nearly 100% occupancy 365 days a year. You can ask nicely at the front desk to see if another room in the same category is unassigned but you should do so before you enter the room you have been given. Don't count on getting switched. Lots of owners have been given HA rooms that they don't need and don't want but they get told there's nothing that can be done because the hotel is full.

Thanks for your reply. I think we'll forego the online check in and go to the front desk when we get there. That has always worked out best for us in past visits.

You can do online checkin and still go directly to the front desk when you arrive, to ask whether your assigned room fits your requests (they won't tell you the room number unless it's ready for you, but they can tell you whether it fits your requests) and to ask whether you can be moved if it doesn't. Your room will have been assigned a week or more before you arrive. Doing online checkin or not doesn't affect the assignment.
