Okay my trip that has been planned for many months is now turning into a nightmare. I invited my sister to go along with her daughter & granddaughter. Then told my dad I would like for him to join us. Now he wants mom to come too if he comes, they are no longer married but are talking about getting back together. This weekend my oldest dd said she wants to come with her daughter. I don't have enough points to cover the trip for everyone at a DVC resort, or any other resort for that matter. I have been trying to figure out all day what to do.

What I am wondering is if I book at a non DVC resort for the weeknights with points & book the weekend with cash is there any way that the resort will link the reservation and not make us move out of our rooms? I'm just trying to find the most cost effective solution.

I can't just tell the family they are out of luck. We will find out tomorrow whether or not my dad has mesothelioma, which we are pretty sure he does. If not there is something else wrong. I have to let everyone come because I'm afraid dad doesn't have a lot of time left.

Does anyone have any suggetions?

Thanks for the help.

Try to see if you can get a studio first since a studio will use fewer points than a non-DVC resort. We have had one or two nights on a CRO cash (AP rate) reservation and while they could not be linked, we were able to stay in the same room. We just worked it out with the front desk when we checked in. It helped that all the reservations were booked under the same name.

Try to get OKW since it requires fewer points than anywhere else.

So if I keep my DVC booking with points for the week nights & use CRO to book the weekends they will let us keep the same rooms? We won't have to remove our stuff from the rooms and then check back in? I would just book it through MS with a cash rate but we need 4 rooms and I can only book two with a member discount. Only my mother & I are on the membership.

Thanks again for the help.

I agree that under the circumstances you have to look for ways to help everyone travel. But do you have to pay for it all? Is there a point where you can say, "My points don't cover this, so please make your own reservations"?

My daughter would not be able to afford her own room so I will have to take care of it. She will take care of the rest of her exepenses. I invited my sister to join us so she shoudn't have to pay now that we are just a couple of months out. Of course Mom & Dad can help with the expenses and will but they would never be able to figure out how to book anything. I am just trying to figure out the most cost effective way to do it.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
