I have 35 points in holding and am thinking of making a reservation which takes 60 points total. Am I able to make this reservation as one provided some of the days are within the 60 day timeframe? For example, if I cannot book the holding points until Jan 8, could I make a reservation on Jan 6 that would use the 25 regular points for the beginning of that reservation and use the 35 holding points toward the end.
Or must I call back on Jan 8 to book the days that would use the holding points?
I really want to use the holding points for the last days in case I have to cancel the first of the reservation later.

You can't make a reservation with those points until you hit 60 days out. I just modified a reservation - cut two days off at the end and added three at the front. The first day added was 60 days out and I used holding points.

Quick question on holding points... I have points in holding and I will be booking in May. What IF I need to cancel again do these go back until holding.. are you allowed to cancel a holding ressie and what are the rules can you cancel 30 days out 7 days out...

I am just curious as to the rules. These are my first holding points in 10 years DVC and i am sure I will be keeping my ressie if I can get for May... however it got me to thinking about what are the rules with a reservation that is holding points ???

Yes you can cancel, the system know the status of all the points used so any points in holding will stay in holding.

If you used additional points that were not in holding, the normal cancel policy will apply. Cancel less than 31 days and those points will go into holding. Cancel day of arrival, all points are forfeited.

I'm pretty sure the holding points would retain their holding status, otherwise everyone would be making reservations with them, and then canceling them, to put them back into normal status.

Thanks for the responses I get that they still stay "holding points" but I just wondered if you cancel the day before say do they just go back to holding and have to be used before use year is up.

I would like to know in case I have to pick a split stay because of availability and then can I cancel if the one or the other come available or am I locked in since they are holding and you can't cancel???

Yes, they must be used before the end of your use year.
