Questions on switching resorts, waitlists, etc.

We have ressies for Dec. 1st to 7th at Kidani for a 2BR and a studio. We're going to switch to SSR. Easy switch, I know! However, we're trying for a GV. If one is not available, I need to book a 2BR plus maybe a 1BR instead of a studio. We're using the rest of our '13 points, all of our '14 points, 24 one time use points, plus a few transferred points. How would a waitlist work if we're going from two rooms down to one? Do I waitlist each room? Do I WL the 2BR only? Does the second room automatically cancel if the waitlist comes through? Obviously we wouldn't have enough points to have a GV plus a 1BR.

I'm going to book 5 of the nights online at 8 am. I know I have to cancel my current ressies first. I'll call MS at 9 to add the 6th night, using some of our points plus the transferred points plus one time use points. Is there a problem with doing it this way, other than I'm "homeless" for the 5 minutes between ressies and there's a tiny chance the 6th night won't be available?

I decided to call MS. Yes, I can use OTUP for the 6th night. However, I was told that technically, when I call back at 9:00 to add a night, that it's a cancel/rebook.

Is that correct? She checked with her supervisor. So with a GV, I COULD lose it in that "minimal time" that it takes for them to do that.

Of course, that's if I managed to snag one to begin with. lol

If you are simply adding a night to the room, there would be no reason to cancel, just modify to add the night. If you are worried or the CM doesn't seem to know what to so, just have them book that one night with a different lead guest and then call back or send an email to have them linked and the other guests put on.
