We just got home from WDW today. I thought I would share the experience that I just had with my daughter. My daughter is 9.5 yo and pretty short for her age. She loved space mountain and was excited to ride Tower of Terror but absolutely HATED it. She trembled terribly during the falling parts, I felt terrible. So when we went to ride the RNR she was a little hesitant. She was getting more and more nervous the closer we got. She was worried about going upside down because she hadn't rode a coaster yet that had done that. Right as we got on and she pulled down the shoulder protector (unsure what else to call it) she started to freak out and wanted to get off. By the time I tried to get the cast member's attention we were off. The beginning is extremely intense in my opinion, but I agree it is very quick. Anyway, I kept trying to look at my daughter because I was so worried about her and as soon as we pulled out of the first inversion I was able to see her. She was laughing with her arms in the air!!!! I was SO relieved because I had already felt so bad about the Tower of Terror ride. When we finished the cast member asked us if we wanted to ride again, she screamed YES! and was the first one back in line. We rode it probably 5-6 more times in the next couple of days. And even my husband, who is one of the biggest roller coaster chickens in the world, rode it 3 times before he decided enough was enough. He said it helped being dark inside and not beinng able to see what was going on. After the initial ride, all my kids were able to keep their eyes open during the launch actually they usually posed (we always checked the photos) but I was never able to keep my eyes open. I wish you and your daughter luck. I'm sure you'll have fun no matter what you decide!
