How many loops, does it jerk you forward really fast, and is it ALL inside?

My DDalmost11 wants to ride it. She's normally afraid of roller coasters with loops and loops that are outdoors. She loves BTMRR and SM (had to coax her on that, but she loved it). She wanted to go on ToT, I was reluctant (always had that falling elevator dream), but I went. We both hated it and will never go on it again. DD is afraid of alot of things (another story), I don't know if I should encourage her or to go on it or not. DH (who's reluctant to go on) will go on with her. Does it immediately go into a loop? We did see a video but it was pretty dark and hard to see anything. Should we wait until she's older? She did go on Mission Space last year at 9..got queasy.
TIA!! :)

There's 2 loops and a corkscrew.

The launch is ultra fast but very very smooth.

The entire ride is inside.

It does immediately go into a loop, but that's good, because you get it over with!

When you are in the queue, you will have a few minutes of watching other people's launches. If she wants to bag out then, there's a baby swap option for the others in your party or the plain old chicken exit.

I get queasy on Mission Space, in fact, I won't ride it anymore, even with Dramamine/Bonine. I don't get sick but it's really unpleasant. I get a little wobbly when I get off RnRC, and I wouldn't want to ride over and over again, but I never feel sick, and the wobbly effect wears off after a minute or two.

I swore I'd NEVER go upsidedown on anything, and generally thought I hated coasters. Turns out, what I hate are big, steep drops. There are none of those here. The music and the dark make it a great experience that's very exhilirating.

Of course, I still scream and scream and scream!
:upsidedow ::yes:: :upsidedow ::yes:: :upsidedow

The loops also feel like you're not turning upside down, in my opinion.

RnR isn't a bad ride (meaning not too scary). Then again I like coasters. (Especially the big drops! :thumbsup2 ) As I get older, I tend to get motion sickness more often on them, though. Like Buttercup Roberts said, I feel a little wobbly but the feeling goes away very quickly. I take the fact that it doesn't make me sick as a good sign! :rotfl:

The most unpleasant part for me is the launch when you get slammed back in your seat. She might not like that. Since its all dark it sort of disguises the upside down part. I love to go upside down though. Just remind her that its over in something like 2.5 minutes so she should be able to get through it anyway even if she hates it.

Don't go. It's intense.

I loved it! So did my coaster-head 8 yr old who will ride anything they will let her on.

On the otherhand, my 11yo, who I am sure YOU are describing, went because she likes the music, and she was certain she was going to die. She screamed "mommymommymommymommy" the whole time in a distinctly un-fun way and was crying when we got off.

We live in Ohio between two big coaster parks. BTMRR and SM and even the very gentle ToT (except it theming) are like the "first ride out of kiddie land" rides up here that my 11yo likes. But RnR is definitely in the "real ride" catagory. If you think you'll be back in a couple years, I'd skip it this time.

I would skip it if you're not sure. Try again in a year or two.

I would describe them more as inversions. I don't think RnR is intense. The only thing about it that was intense was the take-off. After that, it is smooth. I find EE to be very intense. I think the Drop on Splash is more intense. JMHO

It is all inside so the only way for your daughter to gauge if she wants to go on is to go on. But she doesn't have to ride it. You first see a pretty neat pre show with Aerosmith and then go into the alley where they load up the cars. You will see the cars being launched and it is a VERY quick launch. And then immediately go upside down but it took three trips for my husband to realize we did go upside down. Quite honestly, the sight of the cars being launched might not be the best thing for your daughter. It's not as bad as what it looks. But just the thought might be enough. If it is, just tell the seater person you changed your mind and they will let you leave without riding it. It's not a big deal and with the people being able to see the launch, there's a lot that change their minds.

RnR is my favorite ride, I got to ride it 6 times during my last trip 12/3 - 12/13. The take off is great, just keep your head back against the head rest to avoid it slamming backwards, and you will go into the loop right out of the gate from take off. Two corkcrews banking in each direction, a thrill ride for sure :thumbsup2

The short version: If you daughter likes Space Mountain and doesn't mind "outdoor" loop coaster, then this will not bother her. The biggest thrill is the "launch", which is not really scary. I find the loops less intense than for an outdoor coaster, because you can't really see that you are upside down. It's a VERY smooth coaster too, much smoother that Space Mountain. In fact, I was disappointed on it, because I was expacting more from it. I also thought the dark part of EE was more intense, even though you don't invert, only because it is backwards.

ToT is also more intense in your head than in reality.

It takes off very fast, but it is very smooth.Wen you

take the loops you can't even tell you are upside down.Too me it is not

scarier than Space Mt.

Hope this helps! :)

As others have said, the launch is very fast. If you're standing watching others ahead of you, you'll see the cars pull up to the "waiting" position. Blink, and you'll miss them disappearing into the dark. I'm not kidding - they shoot off that fast!

If you're on the ride, the launch is by far the most intense part of the whole thing. It's a good idea to have your head upright, looking straight ahead and leaning back against the headrest. Once it takes off, you will literally feel like you left your stomach back at the starting line for about 3 seconds, then you shoot straight into the loop and it's clear sailing at that point.

Honestly, the first 3 seconds are the most intense. If you can get through that, the rest will feel like a walk in the park! I'd say try it once. I was terrified at first, but now it's one of my favorites.

The most intense (and the best) part of the ride is the takeoff at the beginning, IMHO. After that, it is VERY smooth. My daughter, who is now 11, has been riding it since she was tall enough to get on it. She won't go anywhere near TOT though. :sad2:

RnR changed my views on rollercoasters. I used to hate them but now love 'em! Compared to Space Mountain, I prefer RnR since it's such a smooth ride. Just remember to keep your head back so it doesn't get slammed around!

Thanks everyone! I'll let my DD read what you all wrote and discuss it more from there. I think she's going to be afraid of the initial take off and she'll slam her head back. She loves going on those coaster simulators like at Arcades or big play Fun Land type of places, but won't go on a roller coaster with loops if it's outdoors. I think she'll chicken out right when it's our turn. She has a nervous bladder and have to go.

This is a little bit OT but for anyone that has ridden RnR, have you ridden California Screamin at California Adverture and how does the launch compare to that or even the Superman Ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA?

I am a big coaster person, but quick launches like that always make me super nervous -- but if its like the launch for California Screaming -- I can breath a little easier!! :)

We leave for our first trip January 20th and I am keeping my fingers crossed it opens back up when they say its supposed to -- I don't want to miss it. I am already bummed enough for missing Splash Mountain!!

Its very easy to miss the first loop because the launch is so intense. It took 3 rides before i noticed it. I think the only visual cue you get about an upcomming inversion is right before the corkscrew because there is some light shinning on the track and you can actually see the shape of the track ahead of you. I never thought id go on a loop coaster, but this one is so smooth im addicted. Went on it 5 times last Monday!!!!!

I would say a little more intense than CA Sceaming, but shorter. It really only lasts 2-3 seconds so by the time you figure out your scared...you figure out you WERE scared because it's over.

The only other thing I would add on top of what has already been said, if you are looking for a smooth ride then stay in the front half of the coaster. The tail whip on RnR is incredible and can cause a headache that may last a couple of days...for me anyways

I'm 23 and I am not really a roller coaster person. However, I went on ROR this trip and it was not that bad (mind u i kept my eyes closed), but the second time i went on I opened my eyes and saw there was really nothing to be afraid of.

I know 9 is a lil young but she just has to go with her instincts and she'll be ok.
