Questions on Points for rent

I have been a DVC member since 2001 and have 300 points at VWL annually.
In 2005, we banked 104 points into 2006. I have 404 points for 2006 and we are unable to travel this year. My questions are:

Can we rent these out?
What's the process?

I've been reading many posts and see the activity on renting and trading and want to know more about it. Any help would be appreciated and if you want to discuss the transaction, I am open to it.

You can rent any of your points. HOWEVER, if you rent your banked points you have to make the ressie and such - you cannot transfer banked points.

Your non-banked points you can simply transfer to any other DVC owner.

Simply go to the rent/trade section and post your need to rent points. Prices range from $8 - $12 per point. $10 seems to be the average.

Remember if they are NON DVC owners, you have to make the ressie.

I've rented twice now. I am a DVC member also, but one time I just didn't have enough, and one time I rented for my daughter. I think you will need to make the reservations on the banked points. The others can be transferred to another member. You should go on the rent/trade board and look at all the information there.

Depending on your use year you may be able to bank the 300 2006 points into next year. Cruise maybe?

Thanks for your reply, I will keep looking into it. Hate the idea of not going to WDW this year but other obligations come first.

I have been trying to get my wife to OK the cruise for several years, she is not quite there yet! I won't give up on that idea, thanks for the reply!
