Questions on dining plan?

When booking thru AAA, if you book the room and the dining plan together (no airfare), do they discount just the room portion or both? If you book the room separately, you get a AAA discount of 15%, I think. If this is the case, I guess I can book the room separately (moderate resort), and add the dining plan anytime before I go. I am asking because I am unsure if the dining plan will work for my wife and I (no kids)? Also, do they ever offer any discounts on the dining plan alone?

I don't believe you can get the dining plan alone staying at a Disney resort unless you're DVC or renting points from one. You can only get it with a room/ticket/dining package, so it can't just be added to a room ressie without adding at least one day of tickets and making it a package. (I forget offhand if they're letting AP holders book the dining plan without getting extra tickets yet......)

As far as AAA discount, I'm not sure exactly how they discount which portions. I've always just compared my overall total price for whatever I wanted and gone with whoever was cheaper.

On both questions, your AAA TA should be able to help.

I have booked thru AAA for November and they told me that the new policy from Disney is no room discount if you get dining. If you book a room at a discount and then try to add dining you loss the room discount. I would suggest book the room with the discount and then if you decide to get the dining you can evaluate how much the increase will be. You also have to book at least one park pass per person to get the dining plan.
