questions on cancelling flight

with everything going on cases rising flights being cancelled--and all the changes at WDW we decided to cancel our trip

I booked going down on points since we had enough and this time I actually listened to myself and didnt book coming home

this is on SW

first of all where do I go on SW to cancel and do the points go immedialty back into our account or does it take sometime

Log into your rapid rewards account, click on upcoming reservations (or something similar) and it will show you what you have. Then click cancel.
 
Points go back immediately.
You can cancel by phone.
If you have an account on southwest.com, log in and click my account then my trips.
if you have early bird, you will lose the fee. However, you can reschedule instead of canceling the trip then you can transfer your earlybird. I think you have to have the same airports to do this. I had a trip scheduled for May 2020, which we rescheduled 5 times and carried the EB. You can only do this for 1 year after the original date. I was at the end of time and was going to cancel, but we got pixie dust when SWA canceled the flight in which case EB was refunded.
 
In regards to the Early Bird: I just called the other day to cancel our end of this month trip and they told me they are refunding that fee as a courtesy to customers right now so I was excited to get that! My trip was put back into travel funds that I have to use by a certain date though since I had purchased a non refundable ticket. I had hesitated calling because they said there were long wait times but I think I only waited a few minutes!
 

Thanks for mentioning about the EBCI. I didn’t have time to wait in the phone but I did a contact us form from their website asking about it. Did you have to ask for it or did the person tell you they were refunding the EBCI. Hope I have the same luck.
