I've been surfing for a couple of months now and have most of my questions answered but its getting close and I still have a few questions? Will be traveling with a group of 6 adults and 6 kids, ages 6,6,6,3,2 & 1. What I want to know is what to do in port. I would like to hit a kid friendly beach in the morning and get back to the ship for lunch and then get back out in the afternoon for shopping or whatever w/o the kids. I have a list of beaches in both St. Martin and St. Thomas. What is the best beach in St. Martin? I'm looking at Anse Marcel, Coconut Grove, Dawn Beach and Little Bay. (this is only from a list) If you have a suggestion, How do I get there and back and how much does it cost? We are leaning towards not doing excursions. In St. Thomas I'm thinking Coki Beach/Coral World, Sapphire Bay, Mageens Bay or St John's Trunk Bay. Same questions plus is Trunk Bay worth it with the kids?(some of us were there many moons ago). Thanks for the suggestions!

I can only speak for Sapphire Bay on St. Thomas -- it's a great beach for kids. Water is not too deep, and there are reefs close to shore so kids may see fish even if not snorkeling. There is a nice pool with an area for kids (but keep them off the waterfall). We took a taxi from the dock and got there before the crowds arrived during Spring Break week -- beach got quite crowded then, but pool is out of sight and was almost empty.
