Questions from Prospective Resale Buyer

For a standard 1 or 2 bedrooms at AKV do you need the 11-month advantage?

It all depends on the time of year you are traveling, but for the most part, AKV is one of the best in terms of having things available at 7 months, especially 1 bedrooms....but standard views do tend to go faster.

www.dvcfieldguide.com has some trends and is a source that is good to see how things happen!

Right now, I have a vacation booked next year with a split stay at AKL and SSR.
Good way to see if you like the bus situation at both.
5. The cheapest way to get points is SSR (not surprising) but there are lots of SSR contract for sale and people don't seem to like the resort. I typically rent a car and like it that way so I can park by my room, I like that. However, I don't like the volume of contracts for sale, it seems getting out might be more challenging than say VGF. But the low initial cost and low dues makes SSR attractive. I like AKL because of the the unique setting and cheaper points per night. Can one typically grab a 1bed value at 11 months?
In my experience, AK value villas are very available at 11 months. DH doesn't like concierge so I've never tried. We go a lot in the first 2 weeks of May and I can find 1Br Value villas at AK consistently at that time. Same is true of standard BLT 1Br. That is really the only time I am looking at 1 bedrooms, although we sometimes go the first week in December. October is very hard to find much of anything beyond the 11 month window except SSR and OKW. Mid-January thru May I can pretty much find any size villas at our Homes and most of the rest at the 7 month window, with a bit of flexibility.

SSR has taken a real upswing, IMO, with the last refurbishment and the development of Downtown Disney into Disney Springs.

I can confirm that people were walking the reservations for March for SV BLT studio rooms at 11-months. I needed two studios which were impossible to book both at 8 a.m. until someone walked past the dates we want.

Only if you want to stay at Jambo (vs Kidani)
We want to stay at both

2 BR at Jambi and 1 bedroom at Kidani. If we could ever get a value room at Jambo that would be great.

Once we complete our points we will most likely try to book August trips at one of the following BLT, BRV,BWV or CCV. Once in a while AKV.

In January which would be limited parks AKV, OKV or SSR.

Jambo is possible but no guarantee for both of those windows. Kidani is basically a lock.

Buying AKL for value is asking to fail. You are competing with a bunch of other owners, and many are professional and renting it out. Sure, maybe you get it here and there, but it's not reliable. I would buy AKL myself for 1BR club, which is not impossible, but that is the opposite of your strategy. Standard AKL is much harder to book than savanna because it is cheaper, but still def possible with AKL points. If your AKL plan doesn't work with standard, don't buy AKL points.

BW 1BR is my most booked room. 1BR in general isn't that hard, but we have no idea when you are traveling. If you are going at holidays or school breaks, this isn't going to work.

SSR is the opposite of difficult to get out of. It is the largest timeshare in the world, and it has a known price. Cutting the price a few hundred bucks will get it sold, which isn't true for expensive VGF points. It's one of the reasons I own so much SSR, it is easy to sell.

It works with standard. I never used value in the comparison and only asked because it was mentioned in this thread.

If there’s a difference between Standard and Savannah at AKV-Kidani it’s trivial. Both are generally available for studios at 7 months outside fall frenzy and for 1 bedrooms outside of December. Savannah is more points but it’s also the entire point of that resort, so the availability has always been similar.

I travel off-peak with SAP, sometimes 1BR, sometimes studio, and use Kidani savanna as my backup room. There have been quite a few trips (granted <7 months out) savanna and not standard were available. This doesn't matter to me because I would never stay AKL in a standard room, but I can see the appeal with less points. Aside from club and value, standard books the fastest, like many DVC point-effective views.
