Hello Everyone,

I have a few questions too.

1. How do you decide which month for yr. use is best for your family?

2. Resale or Disney? BWV is my favorite(although I have not seen the BCV yet). I understand BWV would have to be resale.

3. If you go Disney - when can you book your free(incentive) stay after you have purchased? Do you have to wait until 2003?

We almost bought in 1997 @ BWV but did not have enough info and then again last May a resale( resale fell thru because seller confused on points they had already use for that yr.). We visit WDW several times a year (esp. last few years ) and I don't see that changing since we are now serious pin addicts.

Thanks for any info!!!!!! We are going to WDW in May and would like to make a well-informed decision this time.

Selecting your use year might come into play if you know what time of year you usually travel and want to make sure you can bank points if you have to cancel your trip. For example, I usually travel at Labor Day and in November or December, so I have an August use year. I can bank 100% of my points up to January 31 and half of them up to April 30, and I can't bank any points in June and July, but I usually don't travel to Disney in those months.

I think your resort choice is more important than use year. The 11 month window can come into play.

As you point out that may dictate Disney/resale. We have two contracts one from dis one reasle both at BWV. Both were easy to do.

If you go w/ resale let the broker work for you. Tell'm what you ar looking for. I think that resales come up but don't make it to the the listing before a buyer is found. So it oays to be on the list. Doesn't hurt to make an offer a little lower than the asking price either.

1. Understand that use year has nothing to do with when you can go (which is any time of year) or when you can call to make a ressie (always 11 months in advance at home resort and 7 at others). As a result I would not get overly concerned about what use year you get. Some, who go about the same time every year, try to get a use year that begins no more than 6 months before the time of year they usually go. This is simply a hedge against cancellation. You have until the end of the 6th month of your use year to bank all your points. Thus, if you have to cancel a trip it is good to be in a position where you can still bank all those points -- thus if your use year begins no more than 6 months before the time of year you usually go and you cancel more than 30 days from the date of scheduled arrival, you can still bank all those points. Note, if as it appears, you go several times of year at various times, then it really makes no difference what use year you get as you cannot really accomplish that hedge against cancellation for all of your trips each year.

2. BWV is available only through resale. Whether resale or Disney is the way to go simply depends on where you want to buy and, if at a resort available only through resale, whether you can get a price and terms that are satisfactory to you (price is negotiable in resale, not if buying through Disney). The resale process is fairly easy although somewhat more involved than going through Disney. After a resale purchase you are treated the same (or, as some sometimes think, mistreated the same) as any other member.

3. My understanding was that you could use the incentive stay at any time subject to availability at the resort. although there seems to be at least some debate about that at this time. Thus, check with the guide.

I'm sure you know this already, but you can also take $5 off per point you buy (in the form of a credit towards your downpayment - you actually pay the full price and then get $5 per point back) instead of taking the free days that you're asking about. You probably know about that all ready but just thought I'd mention it. :D
