What events do you have scheduled for the year?

Any KONA vets here? How was it?

Anyone going to Kona this year? Where are you staying and how early are you arriving?

Anyone else waiting for 4/15 and the lottery results?

Can't recall seeing any action regarding triathlons this year since it's still early in the season, so I figured I lead things off.

I have the Gator 70.3 next Sunday, a couple of summer sprints, IMFL in November and thinking about RocketMan FL. triathlon, http://rocketmanflorida.com/, if Kona doesn't come through.

Good luck to all in training and competing.

p.s.-not holding my breathe :lmao:

Didn't make it this year but will enter to the max next year.

I've done one Ironman (Coeur d'Alene), 2 Half Ironman, 1 standalone marathon, and 2 standalone half marathons. This year I have one Half Ironman and my first century (100 mile bike ride). Thinking of doing Dopey 2015. I did enter the lottery. I enjoy swimming, running, and biking equally (and a lot, each one of them) and want to keep doing triathlons and standalone events. Thinking of doing a 10K swim next year.

Good luck in the lottery. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thanks! I actually don't want to win this year because my focus is the HIM, but I entered last year and the more times you enter the more likely you are to win if there are nogaps in the entries, if there's a gap you lose all previous entries, so watch me win this year :lmao:

Good luck to you too! :)

I know my chances are slim to none compared to you all who have entered before, but being the pessimist I am, I will be correct in my negative reasoning if I do not get picked or pleasantly surprised if I do get picked. A psychological win-win. :goodvibes

12 more days!

I've got a sprint in a week, metric century at the end of the month, Olympic in May, planning for a full century probably in August, and Rev3 Anderson 70.3 in October. I'm pretty sure I'm going to do a 5K OWS swim event in June. I wanted to focus on some stand-alone cycling (my biggest area for growth) and swimming (my biggest strength) events this summer. Also, prep for thinking about a 2015 full, but that's only happening if some life-related stuff falls into place before I have to decide. Regardless, I'll be volunteering at Chattanooga in September.

2 years for me... being from WA my chances are slim... too many Ironman (Ironmen?) around here....

I'm doing Chattanooga this year... so excited!

I'll be at the swim exit, and one of the run aid stations volunteering. Lots of people from my neck of the woods doing this race!

Bet there's tons of lottery entries, but the odds are still better than Powerball or Mega Millions. :hyper:

As the saying goes, The Hay Is In The Barn.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday last week were 2500yd swim days

Saturday was a 90 mile bike ride

Today an easy 5K then 30 mile bike

Keep moving for the rest of the week then an easy 70.3 on Sunday and lottery day on Tuesday.

Again, good luck to all.

I had my first sprint of the season on Sunday - a 3+ minute PR over last year on the same course! Also, improvement in all 5 splits, but mostly the bike.

Now to ramp up for my Olympic. I'm going to have to dust off my wetsuit and go jump in a lake soon to get acclimated.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Great going!!!! Have a blast in your Olympic.

Had my 70.3 Sunday. Wet suit legal but I went without. Call me dummy or DOPEY, :), but it wasn't that bad. Bike was 28 miles into heavy easterly wind then 28 miles back having fun. Transitioned for half marathon, headed out and then realized I forgot my compression sleeves and Cho-Pat Dual Knee Straps. :confused3 Overall I had a great day.

BTW, Kona is not on the docket for this year. Will do the lottery entries to the max next year.

Congrats on the 70.3! Last season I had planned to do an early 70.3 but I wasn't able to ramp up the training so I had to drop it. This year I briefly considered it, but I wanted more of an off-season after the WDW full in January. So I'm so impressed by people who can finish an early-season 70.3. :thumbsup2

I'm usually fine without a wetsuit - though I would guess the water will be pretty chilly for this one in May, given the cool weather we've been having this spring - but if it's legal, I don't want to give up the assist if everyone else has it. I guess it's my inner competitor. I much prefer when a race is too warm for wetsuits, especially if it's on the edge and people were hoping for it. That's where I feel like I have a distinct advantage.

I'm fortunate because we live in SW FL. and it's always training season if one wants it to be. I was in a maintain mode rather than a train mode.

Swim-two times, maybe three times a week at pool
Bike-twice a week, only occasionally three times
Walk/Jog-once a week sometimes nothing for a couple of weeks

About 95% wore their wetsuit. I didn't want the hassle of removing it and since I am a last in water-last out, or close to it, the slight advantage it gives was not worth it.

I will start next year with....Dopey, Celebration Marathon, Sarasota First Watch Half Marathon just like this year, then Ironman 70.3 Florida in April.

BTW-I am very envious of you good swimmers. :worship:

I'm so envious of you who live in warmer climates! It's still 45° here in Illinois, and the water is way to cold for OWS still.

I have 4 sprints planned (2 in June and 2 in August), a 10k in July, and a handful of 5ks. Hoping to do a Disney 1/2 in 2015. My sister will be doing the Racine 70.3 this summer.

Lots of places for sale down here, so.....come on down!!!! :rotfl:

Got in a 82 mile bike ride today. Good workout with the wind really whipping.
