We have ressies at the Swan next month and I have a few questions....

What is the best way to upgrade to club level? We are Starwood members but I'm unclear does it take 1000 points to upgrade for your entire stay? How do you request it? (via their website or at check-in)

What should I request as far as the room? An Epcot or MGM view or would it be lucky in requesting a specific room or area?

What is the best way to travel there from MCO? We are not renting a car and since DME doesn't go there, who would be best?

What is the latest check-out allowed? Will they store your luggage if you have a late flight and go to the park during the day?

Will they do anything special for children's birthdays if you let them know about it?

Is there any advise you would offer me? Restaurants not to be missed, etc.

Thanks. :wave2:

You didn't say the size of your group, but:

Mears shuttle service- have to wait for van/bus to fill up, stops at multiple resorts http://www.mearstransportation.com/ShuttleServices.htm

Taxi- no wait, straight to your resort (roughly $35-40 plus tax & tip each way)

Towncar service- same as taxi, personalized service, grocery stop optional http://www.tiffanytowncars.com/

I've done all three. I prefer towncar service.

I was just at the Swan for the first time last week. We used an 1,000 point a night upgrade for a balcony room. The front desk advised us we could have club for 1,500 a night (an additional 500.) We decided we wouldn't eat at the lounge, and were more interested in the room having a king and a balcony. We ended up receiving the room right next to the room named in the UG as the best view of the fireworks on the 6th floor. I did not request any specific room, I had just requested (through Starwood) a room with a view of the fireworks, if possible. When we checked in, I did not give any additional instruction and we were accomodated instantly and were able to check in right when we arrived at 11 a.m. to that great room.

When we left, they had offered us a late check-out (which always depends on their occupancy.) We instead had bell services to our room to take and keep our luggage while we went to the park and enjoyed lunch before we drove home. They advised us that because we were going to be a few hours, they would place our luggage in a secure location.

That should answer some of your questions. The Swan was such a great location and we never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus (it was incredible.) I have stayed onsite at the YC, GF, Contemporary, Poly, WL, and CBR. I am staying at the WL in December (already planned,) but the Swan really impressed us (especially with the ease/quickness in getting to all of the parks,) so we will be back!

Have fun!

Thanks for the info. There will be four of us going. I guess I will have to buy more points from Starwood though if it is 1000 per night. :)

FYI:

I was told 1,500 a night for club. 1,000 for room upgrade.
