Questions for recent BCV purchasers

"I have heard that if our use year is Feb and our trip is in January and we cancel lets say in Dec we will lose our points. If this situation would happen I would want to bank our points if we cancel."

Actually, in this situation, you wouldn't be able to bank your points, regardless of when your use year is. If you cancel a reservation within 0-31 days of your arrival, the points go into a "holding" account. Those points are not bankable, and you can only make your reservations at the 60 day mark, instead of the usual 7/11 month window. It's basically a late cancellation penalty. If you don't use the points in your holding account by the end of your use year, you will forfeit those points. Ressies can be very hard to get at the two month mark - especially if you needed a lot of rooms, or aren't somewhat flexible on your dates.

Also, as someone mentioned in a previous post, you should keep in mind that the timing of your vacations may change over the next 40 years.

Does make sense; I guess we'll probably opt to purchase Feb use year for BCV to enjoy the "mental" advantage! (I'm sure we'll regret the decision in 40 years:p ).

It is OK to have mixed use years, isn't it? A bit more difficult to track, but that's OK....

I've been 'studying' this board while dh and I try to make up our minds to buy BCV's. I'm beginning to think that maybe with as fast as they seem to be selling that maybe we should't wait until our May 1 trip to check things out. Do you think incentives will still be offered in May?
Also, we usually take two short trips, one in the spring and one in early Nov.; what would you recommend as a use year for us?
:) My head is spinning with sooooo much information and with the added excitement of possibly buying.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

I was told that if you are a current member that the use year will be the same as your other contract. I would not wait until May as it is likely the offers might be taken away at that point.

We are thrilled to own at BCV.

If there is one thing I have learned about DVC is waiting to purchase is an expensive alternative.

Today we bought at BCV, decided not to wait until our visit in Sept since the promotion will expire in June.

Instead of the 70.00 a point we took the 7 nights free, that worked better for us since we had already made ressie's for Sept. at BC.

Our contact told us they were still processing the papers from Feb 19, and to expect our paperwork in 10 Days with a potential late March closing date.

Can't wait to start planning next years trip....
