My DH went a few years ago to the Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg area, with a friend of his, so his friend could look for a job. I guess they both fell in love with the area and my DH has been wanting to go back ever since. I have never been to TN but have heard that it's beautifull.

We just booked a 5 night stay at a cabin by "Sunset Cottages". Can anyone tell me about these? They do look beautiful (we chose the one called Wine Down) but you know how the internet can be deceiving sometimes. LOL

DH told me we will probably go to Dollywood for a day and then Splash Country for a day also. He also just wants to drive around and show me around. What else is there to do or see in the area? Doesn't have to be the immediate area, we can drive around for a ways.

Thanks!!!

DH and I rented a cabin from Sunset Cottage in March 2007, it was "Mountain Whispers". I was worried that the cabin would not look the same as the pictures, but my fears were put to rest the moment we walked in. It was exactly as pictured! It was beautiful! We had a living room, full kitchen, dining room, bedroom and bathroom on the main floor. There was a loft with a king bed and full bathroom. And the basement contained a game room (pool table, foosball and air hockey) along with another sitting area, bar, laundry room, and full bathroom. There were two covered outdoor decks, one had a swing and chairs/table, the other had chairs and a nice, big hot tub. It was wonderful!! We hated to leave to go sightseeing!!

This past Monday night I called Sunset and reserved another cabin from them for the end of March. This time we're going with DH's sister and her husband so we did get a larger cabin, but with all the same amenities that we had before. We're excited to be renting another cabin from them, can't wait!!

We did have one small problem last time. When we walked into the cabin it had not been cleaned. The beds were unmade and there were towels on the floor. We called Sunset and they had someone out there within a few minutes. The couple who came to clean were extremely apologetic (as was the person I talked to at Sunset). DH and I went outside to sit in those wonderful wooden rockers and soaked up the sunshine and the mountain view for half an hour while they cleaned. No problem. :)

As for what we did that week, we went to a couple shows (Black Bear Jamboree and the Comedy Barn), played miniature golf at Ripley's (3 separate courses), went to Ripley's Believe it or Not and their Aquarium (wonderful, especially walking through the "tube" with all the fish, sharks, rays, etc. swimming all around and above you), went up in the space needle (beautiful view!), took the Obergatlinbug tram ride to the top (another beautiful view!), did Dollywood for a day, went to Alewine Pottery to watch them make things (and bought a beautiful vase and coffee mug), enjoyed lots of wonderful restaurants (Huck Finn's, Applewood Farmhouse, Old Mill, Bennett's BBQ, Alamo Steak House), took lots of drives and hikes in the Smoky Mt. National Park, and of course shopping.

There is so much to see and do there. We were there last time for 10 days and still didn't "do it all" so we're looking forward to going back and doing things we missed last time.

You can PM me if you have any other questions. And have a great vacation!!

Thanks for you reply. There seems to be so much to do. I know he wants to do Dollywood and the water park and probably a lot of driving around. The comedy barn seems to be something I would enjoy. Is it something for the kids to go to? They will be 13 & 14 when we go.

I think a lot of time will be spent at the cabin, in the hot tub and sitting on the porch. Looks absolutely beautiful.

The month before (in July) we're doing a week long cruise and even though cruises are relaxing, I think we'll get to relax MUCH MORE in this cabin.

Thanks....anybody else with info?
