Hi all!
I'm looking at different DVC resorts for my stay in January and my first choice (BLT) is not available, so I am considering alternatives. I'd love to hear anything you'd like to say about OKW... would you recommend it for kids? What is the best location to request to be near the main building and transportation? We have not stayed at OKW before and the size of the rooms are very appealing to me. I'm not thrilled about having to take buses everywhere, but unless we're staying at BLT that is going to be a necessary evil regardless of where we stay. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

OKW is a great resort, recently refurbished and like all DVC resorts, great for kids. A Community Hall, main pool with nice slide and a nice playground.

Hospitality House (main building) is a booking category...not a request. So you should try for that first when making a reservation. Keep in mind it is very popular so it may be fully booked. Even if it is, it's easy to get to the main building and pool using the bus system.

Even if you stay at BLT you have to take buses (and share with other resorts) to AK and DHS not to mention Downtown Disney or the water parks. The good thing about OKW buses is that OKW does not share with other resorts. The trade-off is that there are a few internal stops at OKW so it takes a little time for the bus route to make all stops at OKW. Still, it is not a bad bus system.

Overall, OKW is a beautiful resort with activities for the kids, yet peace and quiet in the villas after the hustle and bustle of the parks. I think you'll enjoy it if you go with an open mind and the spirit of trying something new.

OKW is my favorite resort. The tropical theme is beautiful and tranquil. The kids love the sandcastle pool slide. There are great pool games everyday and a campfire most nights. Look at my video to see the New Old Key West.

All the above plus the biggest DVC rooms, parking right at your door, and boats to downtown Disney that the kids all love.

OKW is a great resort. The buses were not an issue for us last February. Olivia's cafe was great for breakfast. It is a quiet resort and spread out. The pools are nice also. We will stay at OKW again. Really enjoyed it. One of the nice things we liked about it was that you are away from the hustle and bustle that can you can experience elsewhere.:thumbsup2
