Hi, I know this isn't a WDW question but being you guys are all campers and I'm looking for a nice campground in the Washington, DC area, I thought I might ask. Has anyone camped in the area and recommend a nice place to camp. It doesn't have to be too close to the mall. I was looking at cherry hill park. Good, bad? Please share your knowledge with me. :cool1:

I think we stayed at the Cherry Hill campground ... anyway, it was in College Park, Maryland and worked out great.

We were right off the beltway and in the morning would just get on the beltway for 1 mile (didn't even have to merge) and drove right off into a Metro station parking lot. The Metro is a great way to get around and we felt very safe using this mode of transport. The campground was very nice as well.

I would definitely recommend this campground. I don't recall being bothered by the traffic on the beltway.

Thanks, that's all i needed to hear. I thought this campground was pricey but i guess it's because of the good location.

Wow Tim, Thanks for a great site. Before my trip to FW I found all your information wonderful :flower1: , now you are helping me with my washington trip.. You are the best. Thanks, Gina

Hi, I know that I'm a little late posting this, but I just saw it. I used to work at the KOA Washington DC/NE which is in Millersville. I would definitely recommend it to anyone! It is a very friendly family owned place. They also offer tours into the DC area I believe on a daily basis. In addition they have an outdoor pool, playground and during the summer they offer lots of family activities. It is definitely worth checking out on the KOA website. The other great thing is that while you aren't too far from DC the campground itself is really secluded. There are tons of trees everywhere!

i have to chime in here that we loved Cherry Hill Park. Not too far from DC, bus to Metro line stops right at campground. very helpfull staff at front office can explain the entire pubilc transit (only way to get around DC, don't even think of taking your own car into DC) process to you.

the campground itself is very clean. not much for scenic campsites, just a plot of land, but nicely leveled, most have patios or some sort of paving. Great pools, one with a kiddie area, hot tub and nice cafe/rec area. Very nice bathrooms.
