Questions: DLH

Just over 2 weeks! I think this is the most excited I've been in a long time....warm weather and DLH...yikes!

A few questions regarding DLH...I tried looking on the hotel page, but seems to be a little dated, and perhaps things have changed:

*Are coffee pots/kettles/coffee supplies provided in a standard room? Or should I just take my own?

*While not too particular on the room itself, I'm sure they're all about the same...is it worth asking at check in for a park view of some kind? View doesn't matter, just of something other than bushes...lol...or is it a you get what you get thing?

*Any sort of WiFi available somewhere in the hotel? Or just the daily kind you pay for specifically for your room...? And does anyone know the current rate?

*Valet...is this for everyone or just those staying in the pricier rooms? Just want to be prepared should someone ask to have my car keys.

Anything else I should know? Third trip, but first time staying there.

No kettle in room - but you can get one on request from housekeeping! They park your car for you in standard room! Wifi in lobby ....may have changed in the past 2 years though??? I like the ground floor rooms with little patio areas.....I imagine would be lovely on warm days.....which hopefully you will get! Hope you have a great time!

I only know about the Wifi.
The DLH is the first hotel with free Wifi and it is suppose to reach all the rooms

Hi there!

Firstly, you're going to have an amazing time! Just walking in and taking in the aroma of the hotel... aaaah!!!!

We just returned a week ago from the DLH and stayed in a Standard Room which included all of the following:-

- Coffee Machine with coffee packet things (we didn't know how to use it so we left it )
- Iron & Ironing Board
- Safe in the wardrobe
- Robes (had no need to use them... but I won't lie, I had to try it on )

- Valet Parking is for everyone. When you arrive at the DLH, you will drive up to a white security box, the man (or lady) inside will come out and ask if you are staying there. You will then show them your reservation (so have this handy with you in the front of the car so you don't do what I did and have to climb around in the back looking for it ) and s/he will let you through. Drive to the entrance of the hotel and pull up outside... someone will be at your car in an instant and will help you unload your cases into the bellhop's trolley and will take your car keys ( ) from you. It really was easy.

Wifi is available throughout the entire Disneyland Hotel. It took us long enough to figure it out though (we went down to the concierge in the end and asked him to make it work ). When in the hotel, turn on wifi and your phone/tablet should automatically find "Disneyland Hotel". When you then need to do is go onto your internet and click "new page" then type google in the address bar - it will then bring up a Disneyland Hotel homepage where you put in your full name and email address - it then gives you 24 hours access free of charge, you then keep logging in again each day of your stay (completely free). Just remember, open your internet and click "new page", if you try typing Google on the first page your phone/tablet brings up - it doesn't seem to like it, so open a new one, type in Google and off you go!

Hmmmm... Thursdays to Sundays in the Disneyland Hotel at 4pm the characters do a meet and greet in the reception area (always good to know if you want to avoid park scrums).

The ONLY important thing to know in the Disneyland Hotel is that you need to go visit Café Fantasia and request a "Bacardi Royale" cocktail. If the waiter doesn't know what it is, tell him to find someone who does! Heaven in a glass... Aaaah!!!

Sounds silly, but Valet makes me nervous! Not used to that sort of treatment. what is the etiquette in France, am I supposed to tip the Valet and bellhop?

If I can think of anything else I'll come back and ask (I'm sure I will, all the excitement is crowding my rational trip planner brain...hehee)...you're a wealth of knowledge. Thanks again!!

Regarding tipping the Valet, to be completely honest with you they take your keys, give you a pink valet slip and then they're gone. There was no chance to tip them. Tipping is discretionary anyway so you can tip at the end of your trip when they return your car if you feel it appropriate.

Make good use of the concierge too. If you have any problems with the wifi, they will do it for you. Also booking meals they will help you.

The only thing I really do recommend doing is making time in the afternoon, even for 30minutes to come back to the hotel and have a drink at the Cafe Fantasia bar whilst relaxing to the piano music. It's a heavenly way to unwind in the afternoon

We are going next week for our third stay.

I echo some of the comments, firstly it's a fab hotel!
We always ask for some extra coat hangers and a kettle from housekeeping.

Wife takes her own tea bags, we don't drink coffee.

Have only paid for wi-fi before and then realised it doesn't work in the rooms - or at least it didn't last September, suggest we try as Adam says earlier I guess.

Rooms - we have had Ground Floor West Wing both times and were great, not close to reception but there is an exit point a short walk away which is virtually at the park gates. You also get a nice little outdoor patio with table and chairs.

I also agree about Cafe Fantasia, just love a cool evening drink or two there.

When we stayed we tipped the bellhop as he bought our cases pretty much straightaway, gave him €5 and then we tipped the Valet at the end of the stay the same amount. In France its not expected as they get a decent wage. We only tipped the Valet due to having to go to our car several times during our stay so had to keep getting our key from them.

Any advice of things to do with kids? DS is 11...I know of the pool and Magical Moments...no need for a princess makeover...lol...anything I should be on the watch for? He doesn't even know we're staying at DLH...both trips he's asked if we can stay there...and we always tell him no, just too expensive. He's gonna lose it.

Hi, yes you can though obviously they cannot guarantee it.

We had room 3070 ground floor on the west wing, we have also stayed in room 3050 but that didn't get the sun on the patio.
I think rooms 3068/3064/3062 are also well located.

3070 is slightly further away as it's on the corner, I suppose all these rooms are a fair walk from reception. However, it's a pleasant walk as the hotel is so nice inside and as I say it's literally a couple of minutes to the park entrance.

Have only stayed on the west side so cannot comment on other room locations, but I like the ground floor rooms because if the weather is warm enough you can sit outside.

By the way the breakfast buffet is great too.

So west wing rooms, r they easy to go back to during the day, or do u have to go thru main reception entrance??? And r they along way for breakfast??

I have only ever been in the reception with the staircase, so have no clue on it all.....

I think they are really well located for the parks, there is a side door that is literally about 2 minutes walking distance from the rooms, and the park entrance gates are a further 100 yards or so away.

On leaving the park if you imagine exiting bearing right just through the turnstiles the hotel is to your right, your room pass opens the secured door just ahead and once inside the room corridor is first left.

It's more of a trek to breakfast, you have to catch the lift to the second floor and walk along.
I wouldn't say it was ideal for reception either, but to be honest I would rather have that close proximity to the Disneyland Park and in addition the hotel is so nice inside any walk is pleasant anyway.

That sounds good.... Am having to think of what's best for cay, he needs the quiet, but also, if u can get to the room easy, if things have got too much, it's easier to get in ASAP!! Breakfast might not b such a prob, as, don't need the 7am breakfast, prob do emh then go back....

Plus with it being in school hold, it's gonna b busy and possibly hot, so will need the quiet to chill lol

All looking good, as he's now starting to ask to go back, although not quite sure what bits he wants, as last trip all the rides freaked him out, even his favourites.... But I remain hopeful . Thank u so much for ur answers x

We stayed in 1042 at the beginning of the month and it had a lovely terrace in a closed garden. My girls loved having somewhere to play, like having a garden really. We didn't have a coffee machine or kettle though which we would have liked.

It was our 3rd visit to DLP but 1st to DLH andI will NKT stay anywhere else now. Coming home at the end of the day and smelling that smell is just priceless! I also found it the most welcoming hotel with the nicest staff.

Another vote for the ground floor rooms in the west wing, they're lovely, patios are great, very handy for the parks, and also right by the pool - no walking through the bar area in a dressing gown!

Yes, it's on the right if you are looking at the hotel with your back to the Castle.

They don't have fridges - they have a minibar, and if you take anything from it you will be charged.
