Hi Everyone..

After much deciding we have decided that will be taking the kids to DISNEY in Dec.. leaving either Des 27 or the 28.. we are going to book this week..A few questions..

1. Should I buy my tickets from the Disney store in toronto? or is there somewhere cheaper?

2. I am still looking into flights.. as of right now, its cheaper to fly from Buff but we would really like to fly from Toronto.. depending how much we will save we will book the cheapest for us..

3. Booking hotel rooms.. I was on the Disney site.. should I book on that site or is there somewhere cheaper? Do they have deals on rooms at that time and if they do.. when will they announce them?

4. Can I bring a suitcase full of water, snacks, juice boxs, things like that?..

5. If I wanted to go shopping in orlando one day.. how much would it cost me to take a cab? or is there a bus or something like that.. not sure if I will or not we might just be too busy!

Any other suggestions would be great.. I hope to get all this booked in the next week..

Also.. Should I book with a travel agent or should I do it myself?

I know lots of questions!!!.. and I am sure there will be more! I am really excited.. not sure if were going to tell the kids or not.. or just wait until christmas morning :cheer2: Thanks.. Sarah

Just my thoughts...

1.Buy your tickets from Ticketmania. If you plan on going back over the next few years, buy the 10 day with 5 extra visits to the water parks. 15 visits total for a great price. Sign up for Mousesavers.com newsletter for an even better savings!

2. Keep checking but Buffalo is usually much less expensive as the taxes alone from YYZ are almost $200.00! (Ouch!)

3. Go to the Vacation Club Forum to the rent/trade board. You can rent peoples points who own Disney Vacation Club. Be careful, we did this and it cost us quite a bit more because we are almost vacation club members! Just waiting for paperwork to be finalized.

4. You can bring whatever you want but you are better to just stop at a grocery store there and pick it up if you have a car.

5. You can take the Disney transportation from any of the Disney resorts or parks to Downtown Disney for some nice shopping and restaurants.

Good Luck and have fun...this is addicitve!!!

1- I agree- use Ticketmania- they have the best prices and free shipping.

2-I usually save about $1200-$1500 by flying out of Buffalo for my family of 5.

3.- Dec. 27th is still peak season so rates are higher. If you are going for over a week it would be in your best interest to make one reservation until Jan.1st- then another because then it is value season. A good reason to try 2 resorts. If you have CAA you can ask for that discount. Do everything yourself instead of a TA.

4. Load a suitcase up.

5. Orlando is at least a 15-20 minute ride so a cab might cost a bit but there is another good outlet mall only about 5 minutes from DD- it is Premier Outelts.

Hi Sarah! We are going to POR from Dec 31-Jan 7th. We went to Disney in June and I booked with Disney online, this time I called CAA and can you imagine it was cheaper!!!
So my TA at CAA did all the work and I saved 300$ US. We made a reservation for the 31st, and then an other one for January 1-7, with a package (room/tickets/meal plan). Because on the 31st its still peak season, but starting January 1st its the value season!! We are leaving from Montreal and going by car, it's a long drive, but since we are 5, we don't have 2500$ to spend on airfare!!!

Have a nice trip!

I suggest a TA - I use "Magical Journeys" (Melissa is great). They are a company that specializes in Disney. Also, check out the 'DIS Home' link as they also offer TA services, which I have heard great things about. They will be able to help you figure out the best deal for accomodation, tickets etc. You should definately keep reading the boards!! Also there are some great websites to review

http://allearsnet.com/ is a great one.

There are also good guidebooks - Unofficial Guide to WDW, Passporter etc.

I think Disney offers so many options that a TA is a great way to go for the first time. They will generally save you $$ over paying 'rack'.

Not sure where you are - but we LOVE flying out of BUF. We fly SWA and have saves a HUGE amount of $$. For example, in Feb we went down and the cost out of Pearson was around $1100 for the 3 of us. We flew SWA and the grand total (US) worked out to about $230!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a really nice airport - small and easy to get around. There are plenty of nice places to stay right around the airport if you have an early flight out, and they generally include Park and Fly. SWA itself was really good for us, and while they have gotten some iffy reviews, I would say that is the same for any airline.

Best of luck - hope your trip is great.
