Hi! We have reservations for California Grill and Narcoosee's for dinner...I'm wondering what I should plan for everyone to wear there...I don't want us to be over dressed, then have to go to the parks, but I don't want to be under dressed either...BTW...we are a family of 4, 2 kids ages 9 and 2.

Thanks for replies!!! :thumbsup2

You will get a wide variety of replies here to your question :rotfl:
We always refresh and dress up a bit for the nicer WDW restaurants. For me that means a pair of slacks, a blouse and nice sandals and for DH and DS that means dress shorts and a collared sport shirt.
Have a Great Trip

When we go to the Sign. dining rest. we change into business casual attire, sometimes i go back to the hotel to change... but more often, i keep a change in a park locker all day and change in the restroom. IMO changing into better clothes adds to the ambiance of the meal ...the only exception I've made is when I went to Brown Derby for a late afternoon dinner in jeans.

This was tricky for me as I went to Narcoosees when staying off site and visiting the MK all day. I dressed as best I could, slacks though.

I've seen folks dressed very nicely at California Grill and just as many who looked liked they just walked in from a full day at the parks (not exactly freshly showered and perfectly made up!). My view is to dress comfortably for you -- whatever that might mean for your family, given that both restaurants are considered more upscale in terms of atmosphere and food options. As long as you're not in shorts and tank tops, nobody will give you a second glance.

We usually change before dinner and then wear that outfit to the parks at night. Generally, I wear capris or a skirt and a nice shirt with sandals, but if I think I'll be doing a lot of walking later, I would probably bring sneakers in a bag. My DH wears light pants and a polo shirt (sometimes with shoes and sometimes w/ sneakers depending on where we will be going after dinner). This year I have a pair of flats that if I can break in enough should be comfortable for walking to see parade/fireworks after dinner (but we won't be touring the parks that much).

Here's the official line:

Dress Code Guidelines:
Men: Khakis, slacks, jeans, dress shorts, collared shirts. Sport coats are optional.
Ladies: Capris, skirts, dresses, jeans, dress shorts.

Not permitted in dining room: Tank tops, swimwear, hats for gentleman, cut offs, or torn clothing. While T-shirts are now allowed, the policy remains that T-shirts with offensive language or graphics are not acceptable.

Are cute flip flops aloud? I'm wearing cute dresses to all of our signature meals.

DH and I went to California Grill straight from MK.

I wore a polo, nice capris and yes, I wore sneakers (I had gotten a blister between my toes from wearing one pair of sandals, and then I twisted my ankle wearing the other, so sneakers were my last option).

DH wore a polo, khaki shorts and sneakers.

We didn't feel out of place, although if our resort were closer it would have been more "fun" to dress up!!

Yes, they are. I almost always wear nice thong sandals to the signatures. V&A would be the only one I wouldn't do that.

Thanks for all the replies...I don't think I could convince my dh to really dress up...He would wear nice khaki shorts and a Polo shirt....I would hate to have to force the two boys into dress clothes too...They will dress just like their daddy... Wasn't sure if shorts was accepted!

Thanks again!

It's all about what you feel comfortable in. Disney (unfortunately IMO) will allow you to wear just about anything.

The signatures are nice restaurants they are not an Olive Garden. I feel most comfortable in khaki's and a polo shirt if it is warm or a long sleeve dress shirt if it is cool. My boys 7 and 11 wear nice dress shorts if it is hot but always a collared shirt. This is what I feel most comfortable in and I think it makes the experience a little more special when you put something more than "park clothes" on.

I wear capris & a nice top. My DH will be wearing shorts this year with a collared shirt. There's just not room in the suitcase for size 13 dress shoes that will only be worn for one evening.

Generally I'm off to a park after dinner so I try to wear neater shorts & top. But it's still basic park attire.

The way I see it, if they don't want my money, they can turn me away :)
