Questions about Vision impairment in the parks and cruise line.

Hi there, we are taking my mom to WDW and the Cruiseline in a few months. She has not been to the parks in about 20 years. In that time her vision has severely declined and while she does not need braille she is considered legally blind.
She is very proud and tries to use what sight she has left and won't ask for help.
I called the # on the disney site about vision impairment and I have to say she really didn't help. She said any questions my mom has about the regular menu she can ask a server. Thing is, I know my mom she won't ask questions.

So does anyone know if larger print menu's are available on the ship or in the sit down restaurants? Were going to 50's and Teppan Edo

Has anyone used the audio enhancement devices? How are they? She has that on her tv on a few channels and she loves it.

you will need to ask at each restaurant for large print menus. they should all have them

if your mother won't ask.. then YOU do it for her.

for shows you can also indicate to the CM at the entrance that you have someone with vision impairment and can you please sit up front.

A lot of attractions have queues that are either seriously dark, have changing light levels, or have uneven floors. You should be prepared to hold on to her arm through them. I'm thinking especially of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, The Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, and The Seas with Nemo & Friends. Ones that can be tricky to board with poor depth perception are Spaceship Earth, Peter Pan's Flight, and the PeopleMover.
