I am pretty new to DVC. We have stayed at the VWL a few times, but we would like to try something new. We have two small children who will be 4 and 1 1/2 when we would like to go on vacation. I need help deciding which place would be better for the whole family. Please give me your opinions on Vero and HH. Which one would be good for small children? When is the best time of year to go for each one? What do you like about each one? Any information you can give me, so we can decide where to go would be appreciated. Thank you!

With kids that small, I would recommend HH over VB. VB is lovely and natural, but there are not a lot of activities for infants and very small children - it is mostly a beach. HH is a more infant/toddler friendly destination because the beach is not as "wild" - it is more of a tourist destination.

VB does have onsite dining, a nice pool and good children's programs - but the beach itself has a steep drop off and some rip currents.

HH has a snack bar onsite (both at the resort and at the Beach House), two nice pools and good children's programs and a very child friendly beach with a gentle drop off ( at low tide, you can wade out about 30 yards and still be in 3 feet of water ).

VB will have warm weather almost year round (the ocean will be too cool to enjoy from November thru March). HH will have warm weather from April thru November and the ocean will be enjoyable for swimming from mid-may thru late October.

Both are great resorts and good family destinations. I'd agree with starbox about HH being a little more family friendly.

Enjoy!

I've done both, and I think your family would enjoy both too. Here's a few things I noticed. The pool at VB is much larger than the one at HHI, if you're going at a peak vacation time that could be an issue. The beach at VB is at the resort, at HHI if you want to go to the beach, you have to either drive over or catch the shuttle with your stuff. Not hugely inconvenient, but if you're traveling with small children it could get old fast. The beach at VB is a lot rougher than HHI, the ocean is a lot calmer at the HHI beach, another good point with small kids.
I did notice that HHI had a lot of activities for kids, which I didn't really see at VB. VB is larger, and since I don't have kids myself I wasn't really seeking them out, they may have been going on and I just wasn't around.

We have a four year-old and an 8 month-old and have been to HH 3x now in the last 11 months. It is wonderful. We've never been to VB...since HH is only 4 hours from us, where VB is 8 or 9, so that is a big plus. HH is extremely relaxing, family-friendly, and my 4 year-old daughter always cries when we have to leave. The CM's are wonderful, and go out of their way to assist you in anyway they can. I can't say enough about it. PM me if you have any more questions. We just got back from there today!
