Questions about Universal Hotels

Just when I thought I had my trip for Feb. 2006 all planned out I got an unexpected surprise and came into some extra money. So with this extra cash I am looking into staying on site at Universal for 5 days. What I would like to know is how to go about booking one of the hotels. What I mean if I have already decided on RPH do I have to wait until the rates open up for 2006 or can I call now and book and then start looking for discounts. Also do most book directly with the Loews site? The only discount that I would get would be through AAA since buying an annual pass wouldn't pay for us. We are not planning another trip to Orlando for a few years. Also can any one fill me in on what kind of price I am looking at for 5 days the first week of March? Sorry for so many questions but since we have never been to Universal I am totally clueless on how things work..thanks for any info.

You might be surprised about the annual pass not being worth the money. They are only $179 and it could potentially save you a bundle on your room rate. However, sometimes the AAA is less expensive when you check dates far out, but the APH rate has been dropping as the dates approach. You could always book with AAA ( if the rate is currently lower)and then keep an eye on the rates. Also, only one person in your group needs the annual pass. Go to www.universalorlando.com, click on the resorts, and punch in your dates and you can get rates for each hotel. In the promotional code box try it with AAA and then again with APH. Good Luck!

Go to www.loewshotels.com for their website. Choose your hotel and go to reservations. The code for AAA discounts is AAA. Tippytoe has given you good advice about buying one annual pass.

Yes, you can book now and then continue to watch for discounted rates. When you find one, just call Loews and they will change your rate.

I don't think they are booking for Feb 2006 yet.

I'm in exactly the same situation. AAA only for PBR for Feb 2006. We're only doing a couple days before moving to Disney.

I've already got the 15 month powerpass (so we can get Feb in 2006 and 200&) which doesn't get you AP rates.

I'm planning on booking as soon as rooms become available and keeping my eyes open for AAA rates or anything else that may become available.

I'll post results and would appreciate if you kept us up to date on your progress as well.

Thanks

We are planning for two days at RPH before Disney in early March. I will keep watching for rates. I feel comfortable watching Disney rates but am a Universal Newbie.

I just called and they are not booking for 2006 yet, the girl on the phone told me to check back in a couple of months. As for all of the advice here I think I will look into buying one annual pass if I can get a better rate on hotel rooms. We are going to split our stay between the mouse and universal and decided to go with a value resort so I can afford to spend some extra money on a universal hotel. So I will keep updating my progress regarding my universal trip. Thanks again for the help.
