I have read in other posts that the BLT sales will be pushed back to mid-August. Where will the sales be for AKV at that time? Have they predicted a rough sell out date for AKV? I am just wondering how that works with those that are speculating that the point price for BLT will be between $120 and $125. Can you have two resorts selling with different point prices?

Also, I know most seem to be not in favor of the developer points concept but if BLT sales start next month and the open date isn't until early 2010 then what? Has Disney offered other options in the past that were sucessful to bridge this time gap? Thanks for the insight.

I don't know that answer to your first question about a predicted AKV sellout. I don't think that it will be soon as there are still many Kidani units to be declared, let alone sell out.

In terms of the price, I think that they can have two resorts selling at different prices is DVC wants to.

The developer point issue is currently being used with members who have bought into AKV phase II, which is Kidani. They can't use their AKV points until Kidani opens May 1, 2009. So DVC has given them SSR developer points to use in the meantime. If BLT is for real and sales start soon, DVC will have to offer some points for BLT owners to use as they can't use their BLT points as those units are not ready for occupancy and won't be for a while.

I think BLT will start selling at $114-115 per point, assuming it really does start selling this year. AKV won't sell out this year.

So they will have one resort selling for $96 and one for $114. That seems like a pretty big price gap to rationalize.

I think they will raise the price of AKV once they start selling BLT. AKV is now at $104 before discounts.

Do you really think so? That was my worry. I was hoping for BLT to be offered with AKV still looming in the background as my financially responsible fall back plan. I guess now the pressure is on!

Traditionally, Disney has sold all its resorts at nearly the same price - there has been some price differential, but it really hasn't been much.

My own guess is that once they get walls on BLT, they'll stop working on the inside and let it sit as a shell (ala the other Pop building) until the economy can support sales. Capital investment is drying up in corporate America like water on a hot griddle.

We've only been members for about 5 years. In that time, the prices have gone up steadily. Incentives may change slightly. But, if you want to buy-in, there is nothing better than the present. Disney will keep prices rising through ROFR and that will help drive future resorts/sales.

A few dollars per purchasing point per point really don't make much of a difference in the total cost. (Notwithstanding, yearly maintenance of course!)

If you could only stay in one resort for every trip, buy that one and you will never be disappointed.

Best wishes!

A few dollars a point doesn't worry me because $800 for the whole package isn't a deal breaker but $18 pp for a total of $3600 seems a bit much. I certainly don't know the history of the typical price progression but that seems to be quite a jump.
