I just applied to the Disney College Program for Fall 2014 at Disneyland and had a few questions.
1. How many days were you actually working a week? And when were classes?
2. I live about an hour from Disneyland and living with my parents would mean I didn't have to pay room and board. Is it worth it to commute even with the crazy hours?
3. How much money did those who stayed in the housing actually end up making by the end of the program? And what about those who commuted?
4. What kind of questions were asked during the phone interview?
5. Is it worse to work in the Fall instead of the Spring?
6. What kinds of discounts do friends and family get once you are in the program?
7. I am really interested in working attractions. Are you usually assigned your first choice?

1. Depending on the time of year I was working 5-6 days and rarely 7 days per week. My classes were on Thursday and the scheduler made my days off typically wed/thu or thur/fri.
2. I'm not sure about Disneyland, but a big part of the college program in Disney World is the housing experience. I will admit though, that you'll save a ton of money living at home.
3. Staying in housing I just about broke even. I didn't know anyone who commuted.
4. Role specific questions, asking about previous jobs, how you handle different roommate situations etc... standard interview questions and honestly, it's the easiest interview I've ever had.
5. They both have their pros and cons. In the spring you have star wars weekends, flower and garden, cheerleaders, and brazilians. In the fall you have Brazilians, food and wine, hurricanes, Halloween/Christmas parties, and New Year. Fall tends to be a busier time of year in general so there is more potential for overtime and more money. Also, Osborne lights, just saying.
6. Merchandise discount is 20% 40% during the holidays. (YOU MUST BE THE ONE PAYING. THE REGISTER CAST MEMBER CANNOT SEE MONEY CHANGE HANDS AND THE NAME ON YOUR BLUE ID MUST MATCH YOUR PHOTO ID AND NAME ON CREDIT CARD <<As a merch cast member it amazes me how much people try to argue on this one. Ticket discount is 10%. Table service food is 20% but varies from time to time and anyone can pay. You get 6 maingates and a bonus holiday one for the holidays. Hotel discounts can vary from 30ish to 60ish.
7. You get assigned according to the needs of the business. Having said that your "top 3" role choices are taken into consideration but if the only thing you want to do is attractions then you'll need to put "no interest" on every other role in your application. The attraction you get could be completely random and you may not like what you get. You could always request a location but remember that a request is just that, a request. NOT guaranteed at all.
