Questions about storing baggage at DLH when checking in early.

So I'm planning on checking in very early on a Saturday (before EMH) and I know that they'll store your bags for you if you wish, but will they automatically bring them up to your room when the room is ready?

I'll only be visiting for one night so I'm going to try and squeeze in as much as possible and I don't want to spend time trying to retrieve luggage later in the day. It'll probably be faster to just leave the bags in the car and run and get them on my own! But it'll be helpful to know that BEFORE dragging them into the hotel at 6am. LOL

VERY good question! We'll be checking into the Paradise Pier at around 10am on Oct. 16th. I know if our room's not ready, we can check our bags at the bell desk, but whether or not they'll be taken up to our room when it's ready would be nice to know..... I was planning on just taking a break from the parks around 3pm when actual "check-in" is to get the room key and take our bags up.

You just go to check in desks to see if maybe with luck your room is ready. You can check in so they know you are there. Let them know you have luggage to be checked while you are at the parks. Have bell service get your luggage from the check in desk or take it out to bell service desk and let them know you are checked in and they will check your bag/bags. Bell service is located to the right of the front doors.

Have a great time.

No, they don't automatically bring the luggage to the room. You will need to go back to your room to have it delivered to you.

This has been our experience. However, we usually take that as our break during the day and pick it up on our way to the room.

Will they hold your luggage after you check out? We plan to stay in the parks late on our last day and figure our luggage and purchases will be safer inside rather than in the car.

They will hold your luggage after check out as well.

When we arrive super early to take advantage of MM we go to front desk and complete the check in process since you need room keys for MM access. Most times our room is ready. On the occasions when the room has not been ready, they give us room keys and call or text when the room is ready. In these instances, we check our bags with bell services and call to have them delivered when we go back to the room.

How long would you say it generally takes to receive your luggage once you call down? I'm guessing I won't be heading back to the room until after check in, because I'd imagine rooms won't be available until then on a Saturday. Ill probably want to change clothing, and just don't want to sit around for an hour waiting for them since itll be my only full day in the parks.

Yeah the more I think about it, I'm sure it'll be faster for me to run to the car myself since we'll just have a few carry on bags. At least it'll save me a few bucks as well because I'll definitely self park. If I were to leave my bags inside I'd probably spring for valet at the last minute.

Oh wow that's not bad at all. Do you think it'll only take that long on a busy Saturday afternoon in December?

I have only been there in early December so if that is when you are going then yes. When you call down to bell services they will usually let you know how long it will take. Or you could always collect the bags from bell services yourself. There is no requirement that the bags be delivered to your room.

Oh that's true. Where is bell services? I don't remember seeing that when I was there, but I wasn't looking.

Thanks for the help!

At the risk of sounding dumb ... what do you normally tip when they bring the bags up for you?

Tipping.....great question! Should you also tip them for just watching your bags, even if you pick them up yourself when you're room's ready???

Yes, they are putting them on a cart and moving them to the storage room, then bringing them back out, so more than just watching them.

We checked into PP on Friday, moving from VGC. Our room was not ready so we left the bags with bell services. When the room was ready, we called from the room and had them bring up our bags. It took about 5 or 10 min. I tipped him $10 for 7 bags.

I usually tip at least a dollar per bag. Not sure if it's right etiquette wise but its what I do.

It's outside near the valet.
