Questions about SSR

Hi, there. We'll be staying at SSR for the first time December 5 - 12 and have two questions.

1) Is it posssible to check-in early? I know it's busy DVC season in December. Our flight gets in at 10:30 AM and I will be ordering food from Garden Grocer. I'd like to be there when the food arrives so that we don't have to check it into bell services. I want a sense of whether I should arrange for food delivery at noon or in the evening.

2) Is there a map that shows a walkable path to OKW? I want to jog when I'm there and Allearsnet has info on a track at OKW. Can I get there easily from SSR or do I have to take a bus to get there?

You can check in early but your room probably won't be ready. You will be able to take care of the check-in process and you will receive your room keys but not your room number. You can leave a cell phone number with the front desk and they will call you when your room is ready. If you do not have a cell phone they will provide you with a phone number to call. You can use any house phone (located throughout the WDW property) to call to check on your room.

If you want to be there when your food arrives you should arrange for a delivery time after 4pm. I'd actually make it for after 5pm, just to be on the safe side.

2) Is there a map that shows a walkable path to OKW? I want to jog when I'm there and Allearsnet has info on a track at OKW. Can I get there easily from SSR or do I have to take a bus to get there?

There is definitely a path, but I do not have a map of it. You should be able to get that information at check-in.

Here is the map with some walking distances at SSR. To get to OKW, cross the river on the path between the Grandstand and main area and follow that path along the river over to OKW. Please note that the one path by the golf hole in the Grandstand area is a cart path and not for walking. There is a short path though that connects the Grandstand to the main area.
