Questions about Spectromagic?

I am going the week on 9/26. I had planned on going to Epcot the first afternoon/evening, so in case we are tired or whatever, we could leave and I wouldn't feel bad.

Now I see that Spectromagic is the first night I am there at MK at 8:00 pm. Does this get EXTREMELY crowded? Is this like the old "electric parade" from years ago?

I don't know if I should change my plans or what? Any advice? :confused3

While it does get fairly crowded, I have found it not to be as bad as 3:00 parades. We always stand back at the edge of frontierland and Liberty Square and have never been overrun with people. :wave2:

Spectro is always crowded. And yes, it is like the Main Street Electrical Parade. It replaced MSEP in 1991 (although MSEP came back briefly a few years ago)

Since you are going in September and it's a Monday night, I don't think it will be extremely crowded. If you want a curb seat on Main Street, I would get early (6:00-6:30) but if you don't mind standing you could find a spot probably 30 min before. It is like the electrical parade. I would go for it.

Seriously, you need to get there 1.5 to 2 hours before the parade to get that kind of seat? That seems like such a long time to be still :earseek:

If you want a seat on Main Street, you do gotta get there about an hour and a half before the parade, but if you don't mind sitting in Liberty Square or Frontierland, you could get there 30 minutes before and get a seat. We always watch in Frontierland and have even gotten seats just 10 minutes before. -- Another thing is, the parade ends in Frontierland, so if it starts at 8pm, it won't get to Frontierland til 8:20pm. We usually head over to Splash Mountain and BTMR around 7:30pm and get a ride in before going to find our seats. The lines are usually really short because everyone is staking out their parade seat.

:wave2: Where do you usually sit in Frontierland? This sounds like a good idea. I hate to tie up 2 hours or so of time just sitting.

p.s. WaltD4Me, where abouts are you in N.E. Ohio? We are in Perry.

ITA about sitting for over an hour. I just don't think my DD will go for that unless she's asleep, lol. I am leaning towards the 30 minute time line. Thanks so much for posting!

Have they reversed the parade route? Every parade I've ever seen starts in Frontierland and ends on Main Street. I'm confused. :confused3

I've heard that the day time ones start in Frontierland and the night time ones start at the front gates.

When I was there last Sept. this was the case. Spectro ends after Frontierland.
:goodvibes

Share a dream parade starts in Frontierland, ends in Main St. Spectromagic runs reverse - starts at Main St and ends in Frontierland.

Even the last night parade I saw in 12/03 (Christmas parade) started in Frontierland. I wonder if this is new since I was there. Anybody??

You are all correct...sort of. They rotate each time. So, if it started at Main Street last night and ended at Frontierland it will start in Frontierland tonight and end at Main Street.

When you get there ask a CM which direction it is coming from.

If Spectromagic is scheduled for 9pm and 11pm is it worth it to wait for the 11pm parade if everyone in your party is able to keep going that long? :wizard:

i thought it had something to do with it being near closing - something about the day arades drives people into the park and the evening ones drive people towards the exit (although i could be wrong) :confused3

Were getting in on 9/24 and Spectro is on that evening so we are just going to take it easy at the hotel swim, nap, and then head over to MK to catch a few rides and then the Spectro parade and wishes, this way when we come back to MK on Tuesday we can just skip the parades and ride the rides :cool1:

Anytime I've seen Spectromagic, it ran Main Street to Frontierland both times. Alot of people leave afterwards, if it ran from Frontierland, people would be backing up behind it trying to get to the front gates. Since it starts on Main Street, people can easily leave after it passes.

Pixie-

We'll be going that night too since it's the only night that it will be shown during our 5 day vacation. I planned on going to EPCOT that day with dinner at LeCellier. I called today and changed our reservation to 4pm so that we'll have plenty of time to get over to MK for the parade. I read that it is not to be missed! HURRY UP SEPTEMBER!!!!! :hyper:
