Hi :)

My fiancee and I are thinking about having our wedding at Disney World.
We are big Disney fans and it would be so us!!

We have already booked a venue here in the UK for September 2016, but looking at pricing etc, its coming out so expensive to get married here if we did the whole lot etc.

What we were thinking is getting married in secret in Disney World only taking my parents and his parents and not telling anyone else. We would get married, have a week with parents and then they would go back and we would have a further week/10 days on our own as our honeymoon. We would then return to the UK having invited everyone to the venue but we would announce we were already married and would just be a party to celebrate with friends and family, therefore cutting out alot of further expense! This is all just a theory at the moment as we haven't fully decided what we want to do! :confused3

My questions about getting married are as follows:

We were thinking of doing the Memories package, getting married at the wilderness lodge. Are we able to find a photographer from out side and use for the whole day rather than Disneys included hour? And would we be able to substitute Disney photographer for something else??
Anyone got an recommendations on photographers?? Possibly to have it videoed as well?

Also we would want a little wedding cake as well, is that something i can purchase from Disney directly? As there is going to be just 6 of us we would only want something small anyway just to cut for pictures etc.

And then in the evening I was thinking we could do something like the Wishes boat hire, to see the fireworks and order dining on the boat. Anyone had experience with this?

Any information would be brilliant as we are just looking for as much information to try and make a decision! Thank you guys!

Yes, you can hire your own photographer, but with the Memories Collection there is no swap for the photography element.

You can order this via Private Dining at your resort. Just let them know that you want a fancy, fondant-covered cake and they will put you in touch with the Contemporary Resort pastry team, which makes cakes to be delivered to Wilderness Lodge for just the standard Private Dining delivery fee. You can find contact info HERE and complete details on ordering a custom cake at Walt Disney World HERE.

Alternatively, you can work with a local bakery like Party Flavors or It's Tasty Too, which usually offer more flavors and charge less than Disney. You would just have to meet their delivery person in the lobby to collect your cake.

This is a really fun way to cap your wedding day. You can find basic details about Wishes cruises HERE, and I did a whole podcast episode about them HERE.

Brilliant thank you for your information! Will def be looking through the sites!

As the photography is included and no swap avaliable would we still be able to have it even if we have our own photographer as well?? As would get the album as well i guess.

I have no idea where to look for a photographer, are there any that are recommended to use for Disney etc? That don't cost as much as what Disney charge?! :thumbsup2

Usually Disney photography doesn't send out their photographer when you hire your own because they tend to get in the way of each other. Also, some non-Disney photographers have clauses in their contracts that they be the only ones shooting your event. But you could ask about it.

If you search this board for "photographer" you will come up with a ton of threads about the various non-Disney/outside photographers favored by the people on this board. Other good places to look are Wedding Wire and the Knot's Central Florida forum. Heck, I found the Roots by Googling "Orlando Wedding Photographer"! :thumbsup2
