I have been following the board daily since discovering it and am now obsessing about my trip in Aug (21-26). My DH has always wanted to stay at POR so that is where we are staying. I am now concerned about transportation because I have two smaller children and have been reading about nightmares with full buses. I have DD(5) and DD(1) and a stroller to cart around (hate Disney strollers-no storage space unless they changed from two years ago) Can people give me their overall impression and any suggestions for transportation. (My father always drives around himself and that's what he said I should do but I'm concerned about wandering the roads aimlessly and lost with my direction sense.... :rotfl: )

Thanks for help...

We have used the busses and mostly it has been a positive experience, however my kids are older and we don't haul a stroller. People with strollers seem to struggle some getting them on and off, especially when the bus is pretty full.

Take your father's advise and drive. Roads are well marked. The night before ask guest releations for directions to where you are going the next day. Also have them give you a WDW road map. I to have a sense of direction problem and this has worked fine for me. You don't have to pay for parking anywhere on disney property as long as you are staying there. With little ones I think you will be better off. Lugging a stroller seems to be the major problem on the buses.

Try to use the main bus deepo rather than the other more 'remote' bus deepos. In my experience the buses pick up at the main deepo first and then drive round the POR loop to the other deepos. If a lot of folks get on at the main deepo, the bus gets very full by the time it gets to the last deepo!

The bus lines for Riverside where really long when I stayed there in April. One night, the line for the riverside bus at MGM was way too long, so we took a monorail to the transportation and ticket center, then hopped on another monorail to Epcot, then finally got on a bus to riverside from there. Another night we hopped on the french quarter bus and then walked to riverside. I would highly recomend renting a car, the bus situation is a big problem at riverside.

Just back from POR. I agree with the others, use the Main bus stop. We had a stroller and had no problems. You'll probably be leaving the parks earlier than closing so you should have no problem getting a bus.

Have fun.
