Questions about POP

Hey Everyone,

Just a couple of quick questions: How long does it take to get to the parks from POP? Someone told me it was an hour bus ride - true?

Also wondered if a crib would fit in a room with two double beds? My little one will not sleep in a pack-n-play and someone suggested using a crib service and have one set up in the room.

Thanks!
Kathy

The bus rides to the Parks are anywhere from 15 - 25 mins depending on where you are going and how bad traffic is.

As far as a crib, th erooms are "snug" but a crib proably would fit in the room. There may not be any moving space but it would fit.

How old is your little one?? Could he/she sleep in the bed??

the studios park is about 5 min, epcot is around 10, MK is around 20 to 25 and so is AK.

an hour?! oh, gosh, no! not even close! if you look at a map of the world, you will see that pop is centrally located... depending on which park i would say it took anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes... certainly no more than that, even to the furthest park! we found bus service to be extremely efficient w/rarely a wait for a bus, even at off-peak times :)

it might be tight, but w/some furniture moving, a crib would fit... either in front of the connecting door (which presumably you won't be using) or where the little table and chairs are (which is what you'd have to move) or even between the beds, but that would not be comfy! LOL!

Hi Kathy,

Your friend has a good imagination! ;)

I know there are times it might seem like an hour, but as Mark said above, the ride itself is not bad.

That's funny--an hour. In an hour you could get to Tampa!

Oh wait, we 're talking about I-4....never mind....

Good luck!

Bob

MK would probably be the longest ride and it takes 15-20 mins. The bus is better than driving to MK because you get to by-pass the tram and the monorail. So you save time by not having to wait for them. MGM is 5 mins at the most and Epcot and AK are probably 10 mins each.

The crib might be a tight squeeze.

By the pic above you might be able to move the table and chairs, place the crib there and move the table and chairs in front of the connecting door (not all rooms have connecting doors, but the pic shows it)

just another thought on the crib... how 'bout sleeping in the bed w/bedrails? the resort will provide them upon request...

Thank goodness it's not an hour! I guess that person doesn't know what they are talking about!

My little one is 20 mos - but there are 5 of us....so no room in the bed. It sounds like most of you think the crib is doable. I'm hoping for great weather and that we won't be in the room except to get ready and sleep! We're going the first week of August.

Thanks again!
Kathy

it's do-able... just try to pack efficiently... over the door shoe hanger for bathroom supplies... suitcases that can fold flat as there's no way to put them under the bed (platform beds)... extra hangers... maybe plan to do some laundry (depending on how long you will be there)... rent a stroller instead of bringing one (unless you have a car to leave it in, but since you're asking about buses, i'm guessing not)... etc... good luck and ENJOY! :flower:

Well, we will have our car with us. Do you recommend driving vs. using the buses?

Thanks for the help!

I would recommend taking the bus. It is right on site and gets you to the front gate, closer than the parking lot.

In addition, as previously stated, I would rent a stroller. Less hassle to lug on and off the bus, and if it does get stolen, no problem.

Disney always recommends to ALLOW up to an hour to get from one point to another. If the bus ride is 20 minutes, and you wait 10 minutes, most people will say it took 30 minutes to get to that park......don't forget to factor in wait times and walking times, etc.

We'll be going to in a couple weeks. This is my first time staying at POP. Anyone have any input about staying in the 70's? Also any comments about the food in the food court would be appreciated. :earsboy:

i recommend the buses over a car absolutely! i was just suggesting that w/four people plus a full sized crib that you would not want to store a stroller in your room as well... you'll be tripping over it for sure!

food court in pop is very nice... i liked the layout, easy to manuever, easy to leave kids at the table and keep your eye on them while on line, lots of great selections (LOVED the lo mein) at all meals... our fave was the fruit/veg/cheese plates in the "grab 'n go" section... desserts were awesome (esp twinkie tiramisu)...

we walked thru the 70s section and found it to be a good location, well themed, etc... it does not, however, have it's own pool (like the 50s, 60s and 80s/90s share one) but it does have pop jets which are popular w/the younger set... my kids are pool kids! LOL!

personally, you can't go wrong with pop :flower:

We stayed at the pop in the June/July season and the bus service was TERRIBLE!!!!! We waited over an hour for the Magic Kingdom bus to come! The next day 45 minutes for MGM bus, and so forth. :)

wow! that was not our experience at all... i'm sorry to hear that! the one day we had a ten minute wait for a bus the dispatcher was right there radioing in for on (actually he gave ds the radio and showed him how to use it and had ds make the call "pop the animal" which ds got such a kick out of!)
