We just returned from the Pop Century - It was great. We arrived at about 10:30 am and our rooms were ready. We were in the 50'w bldg. - adjoining rooms 1344 & 1345. Great location - very close to Classic Hall & pools. We parked in the 60's parking lot - a lot closer to our bldg. We used the buses and found them terrific. Short waits at MGM, Magic Kingdom. The pools were great - I went in and I prefer very warm water to swim in and it felt comfortable to me. I went for coffee on our last morning at about 6:30 am and the bill was on the door at that time. This was our first experience at a value resort because we took our 3 year old grandaughter and we really enjoyed it - it's not the Poly but was great for kids.

Definitely try to get the 50's building facing the Epcot ball and the lake. We were in room 2356 and it was quiet and very enjoyable at night watching the fireworks. We were there over Thanksgiving and my children swam in the pool. My husband said it was heated. We had a car so I don't know what the buses were like. Our last night we received a message saying the bill would be charged to our cc on file and a paper copy would be on the door by 6am. I was very pleased with the resort, especially for the price!

In just a few short days I will be at POP for my second time. This is a great resort and with the lake in my opinion it should be a moderate. The great price makes it sooooo atractive I just wish they would finish the legendary years as I feel it detracts from the lake. But on the up side no bus sharing :jumping4: I have been in january and have swam but also have not depends so much on the outside temp. Well just a few more days and we will be there...am getting engaged at MVMCP on the 14th. This will be my 50th trip to WDW DF 1st sort of. Wish me luck DF has decided to quit smoking the day we leave (using the patch) he has smoked for 45 years. Oh well great idea but perhaps bad timing..stay tuned for trip reports :flower1: :flower1:

We stayed 1/24-1/31/04. Did not arrive until 7pm and even later in Oct. You can request a bldg, but may not be able to get it. The Hippy Dippy pool was most fun, as it has flower sprinklers, but it is also an upgraded room with a fee. Not worth it to us. I was in the Rubiks Cube, 80's, section both times I stayed. We were able to swim, but it was frigid. Pool and air were too cool for the 1yr old. We used the busses and they were great. We HATED the food court, except breakfast was "ok". We used the express checkout without any issues.

1)Anyone been the end of January?

We were there in early Jan last year right after it opened

2)If arriving early...chances of early check-in ?

I think we got there around 2 and went right to our room

3)Can we choose building...if so any suggestions ?

We used the unofficial guide and it recommended the 60's as preferred. Its close to the pool and the lake and the food court, bus area. We did not have a car, so parking was not issue, I have heard others say that if you are driving you want to be closer to the parking lot

4)Swimming ....too cool at that time of year?

Most of the days we were there were COLD, but not all of them. We swam one day (our room was on the first floor right by the kiddie pool) and the rest of the family went to Blizzard Beach one of the days. I think the pool might have been heated because there were people in it on cold nights and steam coming off of it

5)Use rental car for hopping or buses ?

Buses (only delay was that blizzard beach and animal kingdom shared a bus and they closed about the same time. Our family had to wait for 45 minutes at blizzard beach because the buses were full of animal kingdom) It was still a new resort and they were working out kinks!

6)Best times for eating in food court (ie;early morn, breakfast, early eveing ,dinner?)?

Anytime...we were there all times a day and were pleased with food. Busiest in the morning and late a night, but there is a lot of seating area. Its close to where the buses leave from too..which is nice!

7)Express checkout suggested?....arrival time of final bill (to room)?

We checked out by 9am and they kept our bags while we went to MK for the morning, we got back around 12:30..perfect timing for our airport shuttle.

Hope that helps! We loved it and are going back and will probably stay there again.
