First off I'm a newbie in DVC booking and probably spoke too soon.:guilty:

Some friends of ours want to rent points for OKW for Nov. 19 - 22. I offered them to have the "rented" points transferred into our acct. and then I can make their ressie for them. They felt more comfortable with renting this way.

I am making my own ressie tomorrow for our Feb vacation using our 2005 points (dec use year) and borrowing a few from 2006. Here are my questions...
1.) Will this be confusing to Member Services, when I have the rented points transferred into our acct? I just want to be sure the points that are transferred for use now don't get applied to the Feb. vacation. Like I said, I'm a newbie and not quite sure how the points are applied.

2.) Should I just help them set up a DIS BOARD log-in and have them post for the points and then step in when the points are ready to be transferred, or should I be doing all the leg work?

3.) Is it going to be possible to even get a 1 brm at OKW for Thanksgiving week? I would hate for them to rent points, have them transferred into our account and then not be able to get the ressie. (I don't want to end up having to buy the points from them and I'm not sure if transferred points can be rented or transferred a 2nd time.)

UGH! What have I gotten myself into?

Any advice? Thanks Loads!:flower:

1)- It won;t be confusing to MS at all. Once the points are transferred, they are part of your contract of points and may be used in that Use Year. Unless you are transferring points from a different resort, the points are simply combined with your other points.

2)- Unless you are planning to give your friends your account number and allow them to work with MS directly (NOT ADVISABLE), you will have to handle all of the details anyway. There is no reason to involve a third party in the transfer process, IMO.

3)- By all means, check with MS about availability before even looking for any points from another member. Also be aware that even if there is availability today when you call, it may be gone by the time you actually have the points transferred. Be sure to have a good feel for availability.

I would suggest having your friends register on the DIS and post their request on the Rent/Trade to find their own accommodations. You can advise them about how to proceed with the transaction, but you may find it more involved that you want trying to make all of the arrangements yourself at this point.

Good luck! :)
