*I have been reading on here about using the Ziploc bags for packing. What size should I get? Do you use them for adults as well? Dumb questions I know, but I never thought about using them before and it seems like a great idea.

*Also, another dumb question, what are carabiners (sp?)? I saw them mentioned on another thread about using them for hats when riding rides.

*Anyone who wears contacts......I am thinking about going back to contacts. I have never worn them to WDW before and I was wondering if you have problems with them on the rides, drying out or whatever. Maybe I am just a dork thinking of silly things!! I went last year with my glasses and I was so afraid I was going to lose them, I thought it would be better with contacts.

*I know someone mentioned using golf balls for foot massagers. Do they work and how do you use them? Do you put them on the floor and roll your foot on them?

I'm sure I will be thinking of more questions later on. Thanks!!!

What a carabiner is is a D-hook that has a spring in it to keep it closed. They are very handy and come in a lot of different sizes and colors. People who climb mountains use them when repeling down the mountain and as a safety device.

I myself do not use ziploc bags very much. I use the travel space bags. For me I seem like I can get more air out of them than the ziplocs. The sizes people seem to use most is the gallon and two gallon sizes.

Hope this helps

I do like the idea of packing with ziploc bags, however, I don't follow the advice found on many threads to pack an outfit per bag. That sounds good, but it didn't work for us. The advice is to pack one outfit per bag, everything all matched up, socks, hair accessories, etc. Then all you have to do to get dressed is just grab one bag. Expecially good for kids, just hand them a pre-sorted bag and you're all set. Well, we tried that one trip and it just didn't work that way.

First, you're just assuming you will use one outfit per day. It worked fine until one child spilled juice on a shirt. Then we had to break up another outfit to get the one shirt. Then, of course, that set is incomplete....etc. Finally I dumped out all the bags and rearranged them. It made one big headache! So this is what I do--sort by item, not by outfit. For example, all dd's socks in one bag (or as many as needed), labeled 'dd socks'. My socks, underwear, well....you get the idea. Made it a breeze to unpack--just toss the labeled bags in a drawer, no mixing up mom and dd's stuff, etc. Also, I put inside each sorted bag a similar size ziploc labeled 'dd dirty socks' or whatever. Then, as each item was used, it had a place. Otherwise, you wind up with a huge bag of dirty laundry that doesn't fit into your suitcase! Just repack like you packed, with dirty instead of clean. I do not worry about doing laundry while on vacation--there's time enough for that when I come home. I'm on vacation, too! Actually, last trip I just brought along old underwear, socks, etc., then threw them away as used. Beats trying to wash out dirty underpants in the hotel sink! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the ziplock dirty clothes bag. We always use a trash bag for dirty laundry and it is a pain to pack. I will try this trick. I already pack socks and undewrware in bags, don't know why I never thought of the dirty clothes. Now, can you suggest a good carry-on bag for air travel. I want a small bag with wheels that will fit under seat. I hate having to put anything in those overheads. I have been using a large Mickey Tote Bag, but it bothers my shoulder. I tend to carry on things like a small travel pillow, crossword book/pen, magazine, shorts, shirt and underwear, toothbrush/paste and deoderant. Last travel, luggage was lost (thankfully on return trip home). Taught me a good lesson NOT TO OVERPACK. DVC has laundry room and I will utilize it if necessary. It also gives me extra room for those must have WDW trinkets (LOL).

Another vote for the travel space bags. I just finished packing my stuff, DD's and DS's clothing (for our trip in 28 days  ) and I was able to get 8 days worth of clothing, undergarments, pjs, and swimwear for each of us in one lg. size travel bag for each person. I got them all in one suitcase. :cool1:

We use the travel space bags, no vaccuum needed, but not for each day of clothes. My suitcase breaks down into, underwear, tee shirts, tank tops, golf shirts and swim clothes plus the socks and miscellanous. Thats about 5- 6 space bags and when the air is all pushed out, it fits real fine in my bag with tons of extra space left over. Some people fill that space up with more clothes but you have to watch the weight, using space bags you tend to over pack. During the stay, we put dirty clothes in the Disney laundry bags and lay the empty space bags on the bottom of the siutcase and cram in the laundry bag, no doing laundry at WDW, our rule.

For our carry-on, we use a rolling laptop case, only we don't put a computer in it. It has many zipper compartments.

I love this thread! It is currently saving my life from stuff I have read on other boards. Yay, and thanks to everyone who has posted!

About the contacts, I have never had any problem with them nor has DS. We ride all the rides and do the water parks.:cool1:

Ditto-the contacts! I've also never had a problem with them and have only worn contacts to the parks, I don't even have glasses. I always bring a few extra pair just in case but I have yet to lose one lens.

The only thing that happens occassionally is that if I get water splashed in my eye it might make the contact shift a little in my eye. I just close my eye and rub it alittle and it's fine.

Great, thanks everyone for their posts!!! I really appreciate it!! :thumbsup2

I have never had a problem with my contacts either.
I love the ziplocs...sorry everyone!!! My kids are old enough that they are good on one outfit. I do pack 2-3 extra outfits in case they are really sweaty when we get back before ADR for dinner. That way, they can change. They help with the ziplocs and hair stuff. They know what is in each of their bags. That helps.....I put the dirties in the same bag I took the clean ones out of at the end of the night. :thumbsup2

Hi
I always wear my contacts and there's never been a problem with them. I carry an extra pair with me, just in case something would happen to them. I couldn't see a thing without them.
