Questions about OKW

I just returned from HHI and we are planning on taking Dh parents to OKW but I am concerned about the stairs. Are there elevators to access the rooms above the 1st floor? Is there bell service (none offered this weekend at HHI)? Are there stairs to 1st floor rooms and if so how many? I cannot imagine lugging 1 weeks worth of luggage up a flight of steps.

Thanks in advance. We should have stopped there last month but we ran out of time. I just want to know what to expect before I book. I may have to have elevator service for them (and me lol I hate working on vacation lol)

OKW has three buildings with elevator access (#63,63,64). All buildings also have ground floor access. If you will need a villa with such access, be sure to make the request with your reservation.

The resort also does have a Bell Staff to assist with luggage if desired. Parking is available near each building.

There are elevators only in the 3 newest buildings (62, 63, 64). The first floor rooms have no steps. There is bell services.

If you come in your own car/rental, you will have to specifically request bellservice to help you. Most folks with cars just drive up and bring in their bags. The help is available, just needs to be requested. Of course, if you arrive by taxi/Mears/etc. they take you and your luggage to your villa in their carts.

Also remember that the first floor units will generally have less view and a bit more noise if you happen to get a loud group above you. We find the stairs to be very well planned with a small rise that makes them easy to ascend. Bell services can always be called if you prefer not to carry bags.

We always stay on the ground floor units because we travel with my parents. Dad just had knee surgery and is threatening to request a 3rd floor unit now, with his "bionic" knee.. In any case, we LOVE the first floor. So convenient. OKW is so full of little touches that make it beautiful -- the water, flowers, bunnies -- and when you are on the ground floor you really see these up close. We have never had a problem with noise from above and as I say "medical reasons" they always give us a downstairs unit.

If it is for medical reasons, certainly let them know. Also remember that if you ask for first floor, you may get a HC room.

It is the request that the ALWAYS have filled. We have stayed at OKW 4 times now, and each time we have gotten a 1st floor Non HC (never knew to ask for Non HC) I find it much easier on the 1st floor. This last trip we stayed in room 1711 (1BR) by far my favorite, beautiful sunrises over the golf course, quiet and the entry was through a little courtyard so it seemed very private too.

A CM told me they really try to meet floor requests, especially 1st floor bc often the people request it bc stairs are a problem.
