Questions about MVMCP

We are travleling to the world the week of December 7 - 13th.
We are thinking we would like to try to MVMCP for the first time, and had a few questions. (This is the first time we've been during the holiday season.)

We are interested in the Thursday night party, any idea how early I need to buy our tickets?

I see that there is no refund for bad weather. Is there usually a lot of bad weather in December? I hate to buy the ticket and it go to waste.

Our dd's will be 1 yr 10 months & 3 yrs 10 months when we visit. Has anyone done it with children this age? Did you find it worthwile? Did they seem to enjoy what they saw?

We are planning on making that Thursday a "stay around the resort" day, so that they did adequate rest and our youngest gets a decent nap, before we head over to MK around 4:00.

We went last year and had a wonderful time. We took our 5-year old but left our twins (then 10 months) with my SIL. I don't think the twins would have handled it very well at all and I don't think I'd bring any child much younger than 4 or 5, depending on how long they normally stay up. I think if you get there early and don't try to stay the entire night (and if they're napping well that day), you should be fine, though. With twins I am just a little more conservative about going out at night.

Some of the guidebooks don't give MVMCP a very favorable review, but we thought it was the highlight of our trip. Just remember that you're going for the party, not necessarily to get on rides faster and to see attractions which, if it's a crowded night, won't be much different than a normal day as far as waits are concerned. We were fortunate to go on a night that wasn't sold out, and we didn't wait for anything. I did hear from a season pass holder who'd gone on the previous Tuesday that it was really crowded at not fun at all. I would probably avoid the weekends, if possible, but otherwise it's probably a gamble as far as crowds.

Weather in December in Orlando is all over the place. I wouldn't worry about the rain (does your stroller have a rain cover), but I'd pack for just about every type of weather except maybe snow!

Go! Have fun. It's worth it.

I was looking into this and noticed that there are a few nights where you do not get a discount for buying tickets in advance (the only nights we're there, of course). I bet those are the busier nights.

We did it last year with your 11 month old twins, and are returning this year with them, along with a 3 year old and 1 year old (friends who are travelling with us)

We LOVED it with them at this age... we have sound barrier ear muffs that they wore when they got tired, so they didnt get startled by the fireworks mid-snooze... but they lasted until the very end... and loved seeing all the lights and music around them. We are super excited to be going again this year (we are making it an annual tradition to spend the week before Christmas at WDW)... our children have done alot of travelling at their young age, so they arent fazed by it and are troopers... but I think if you go with the flow, and expect the best, you will be pleasantly surprised! I know the 3 year old we are travelling with this year is excited about the whole evening... after seeing our pictures from last year. So long as he has the stroller to collapse in if it gets to be TOOOO exciting, we are all good!

I say go for it... for us, it's an event that is a "Must Do"

We're going the same we as your family! And I've been wondering the same thing about the party. Our DD will be 3 weeks shy of her 3rd birthday when we go, so it will be free for her, but close to $100 for my DH & I. I just don't want to waste our $ if it's not worth it. So I hear you there....

I'll be reading all of the responses to figure out what to do!

Do you think it's busier on the nights you get a discount or when you do not? I've heard that it's busier earlier in the week and on the weekends, but that's all I've heard. It would be nice if you could figure out which nights won't sell out in advance, because having the park as empty as our night was amazing. We literally rode Buzz Lightyear over and over and there was plenty of room to see the parades, etc. The only thing we missed was the show they put on in Tomorrowland, but just because we were too busy to wait.
