I've stayed there twice, once with my family when getting a free weekend from Marriott, and once at a convention alone.
Answers to your questions:
1) Typical hotel room size and configuration, but the balconies are nice.
2) I'm pretty sure they're queen beds.
3) We didn't eat breakfast there.
4) If you can, get a high room in the main tower overlooking the pool area. One thing, be careful and keep your curtain closed in the evening if you're changing, etc. The tower has three branches that jut outward, and if you're part of that configuration you can see into other rooms, and everyone else can see into yours. Some kids in a balcony somewhere below us were having a good old time with a set of binoculars, ifyouknowwhatImean. Apparently a couple across the way was honeymooning, or acting like it.
5) There are some shorter satellite buildings off the main tower that contain guest rooms. I went to work out one morning, and the spa/fitness area is a pretty good hike from the tower through a maze of corridors with room numbers in the side buildings.
6) We upgraded to a pool view when we got there, but we're Marriott rewards members -- don't know how they'd treat you otherwise, but my guess is if there is space available, they'd probably accommodate you for an upgrade.
7) Don't know.
8) As I said, I prefer the tower rooms because of the view and the convenience of not having to walk as far to the main public areas.
Tips/observations: This Marriott has a huge convention center, so you might want to check and see who's scheduled to be there during your visit.
The main pool area is the primary attraction of this place, with waterfalls, a water slide, and a grotto area on the opposite side where it's not as crowded. There's some kids pools available nearby as well.
If you're driving, don't even think about self-parking unless you feel like walking. It's a long way from public parking to, well, anywhere.
The main lobby area is beautiful, set inside a large atrium with adjacent restaurants and bars, with doors in the back leading out and downstairs to the pool.
Bottom line is this is a first-class convention facility and a mega-resort. It's a lot of fun, unless you prefer your vacations quiet and intimate.
