Questions about late check-out

I have seen a few people mention "late check-out". This is something that has never crossed my mind before (always just did the standard 11:00 AM checkout) but with our upcoming one-night stay to CR in September, I am thinking about maybe doing this so my DSes can enjoy a little pool time before we head back home and so DH can have some time to explore the hotel a little (it will be our first time staying there and is his dream resort). My questions are...

1) When given a "late check-out" time, what time is that exactly?

2) Is there an extra charge for this and if so, how much?

3) Are late check-out requests generally granted? Does it depend on the time of year? (We'll be there mid-September).

Thanks! :flower3:

Never heard that being an legitimate option at the resorts. You can check out and the front desk will gladly store your luggage. many people do this and then hit their favorite parks for one last whirl especially if they have a late flight home.

This is sort of a sore spot at Disney because many folks feel that if you are late getting out of your room, some one checking in may be late getting in.

You have to call the front desk and ask. It is not always possible. I have only gotten until 1PM. I called the night before and the morning that we were checking out. They will only let you know at that time.

up until 1 pm, it's free. from 1 pm - 3 pm, it's half the rack rate. beyond that is another night's stay.

you have to ask for it and it's granted based on availability (it's actually a housekeeping issue). call the front desk the morning of at 7 am or many have had success calling a day or 2 before, so you can try that as well.

Brad is correct. We've had fairly good luck requesting late check-outs until 1:00 during slower times of the year. The DVC resorts will not allow late check out. Even if you can't get a late check out, you can still use the pool and other amenities through the day. We put on our swimsuits and put our travel-wear in a back pack. I always pack ziplock bags to store our wet suits in for the trip home. Enjoy your last day there!

Thank you all for your responses! I know it's not a problem to use the pools after checkout, I just figured it would be nice to still have the room available in order to pop in and change into dry clothes before hitting the highway. No biggie if they don't grant us late check-out, we'll make do and home is only two hours away. :thumbsup2

1) You call the Front Desk.
2) But, it is Housekeeping that actually permits/denies late checkouts.
3) If available, late check-outs are permitted until 1:00pm.
4) Other than that, normally the fees are
. . . check-out until 11:00am - free
. . . check-out until 3:00pm - 50% of room rack rate
. . . check-out until 5:00pm - 100% of room rack rate

NOTE: Late check-outs in DVC resorts for DVC room is not permitted. Due to the time it takes to clean DVC suites (eg. studios, 1-2-3 bedroom villas, check-out is 11:00am.
