Questions about June Visit

We have been to Disney over 6 times, but always in September (we like to avoid mass crowds!). I will be in Orlando for business trip from June 13-16. We're thinking that my husband could fly down with the kids (8 and 5 yrs old) on Thurs June 16 and we'd stay until Monday June 20.

We are quite familiar with the heat and humidity of September (usually mid 90s with high humidity and one late afternoon shower). Can anyone compare the heat and humidity of mid June and September?

Also wondering about how crowded the parks will be? I know this time of year is close to high season, but will we be overwhelmed with wait times for rides? In Sept we usually go to parks first thing in morning and then go back to room for mid afternoon swim/nap - do people usually follow this same strategy in June? Anything else we should know about Disney in mid June? Thanks, Jo

We usually vacation at WDW in Sept to avoid the crowds (the last 3 out of 4 trips have been in September) but my DH and I went last June to celebrate our 10 year Ann. We were there almost the exact dates you are planning.

For us, we would not return in June with our children. Compared to September, the crowds were pretty large. I was uncomfortable with the size of groups of people massing together for parades, shows, etc. We did get to ride and see everything we wanted to, thanks to FP. There was also a lot more storms at night in June than we had in September which cancelled a lot of the night shows (but this is hit or miss and we just got unlucky). We were mostly shocked at the crowds at the pool. We stayed at AKL and the pool was packed. We had stayed at AKL the previous September and had the pool almost to ourselves most afternoons. In June there wasn't much room to move in the pool.

The plus was that there were many e-night options which we took advantage of and really enjoyed. The parks were very empty for e-ride nights and we were able to do so much in the cooler evening. The other plus over September is that all of the attractions are open (for the most part). My DH and I got to see the CoP for the first time and a few other things that we have missed due to low September crowds. But I would give all that up if I had my kids with - we wouldn't be able to do the e-ride night with our kids.

Basically, any trip to WDW is "worth it" in my opinion. You just have to realize before you arrive that the crowds are much different in June than September and just adjust to that. We did get into the parks when they opened and left around lunch to relax at the resort and (try to) swim. You just adapt to what makes your trip the best for your family and enjoy!

We visited at just about those same dates in June of 2003. The crowds were not too bad. What was a noticeable issue was the heat/humidity. We found a mid-day pool break to be a necessity
