Questions about January

I'm in the early stages of planning an extended family trip. We all went Nov 14-19 2014 and had an amazing time. Now the difficult part is finding a time to coordinate 5 work schedules, 2 college students, one in high school and a 5th grader! It looks like we all may be able to go Jan 2-7.

Can someone who visits in January tell me what it is like? I'm sure the weather can be all over the place. It was when we were there. We had warm days and freezing toboggan days. Are the crowds still heavy?
Is Splash closed every Jan for refurbishment? Anything I should know?

Thanks in advance!

1. I'm sure the weather can be all over the place. It was when we were there. We had warm days and freezing toboggan days.

2. Are the crowds still heavy?

3. Is Splash closed every Jan for refurbishment? Anything I should know?

1. Expect it to be anything. Pack every kind of layer to add and take off as the temperatures change.
2. No. Certainly nothing like the holidays or Summer. But, there will be guests who are part of large "tour groups" in January.
3. Expect that, yes.

Expect 1 of the watermarks to be down for refurb. Layers are always best. Also a pair of thin gloves just incase. We found when it was cold and wet that the poncho not only keeps you dry but helps keep the heat in.

We were there January of 2014. The weather was all over, but it was cold in the mornings and evenings. I think highs were from about 50 to 75 while we were there. However, we had a couple lows in the 30's.

January and February you will see bb closed
from 2000 to 2010 there was only 1 trip we got to ride splash
up sides lower crowds many times we toured without fp and the only thing we didn't do was tsm and I don't recall waiting more then an hour for a ride
in January you may still have some Christmas stuff up and many times we caught deals on last year's park stuff

As for temps we live in North east wi so even at fl coldest we enjoyed it many days in shorts and yes a few days where we wore our jeans and sweatshirts

Thanks everyone! I have definitely learned my lesson about how cold it can be in the parks. I will never leave home without layers, hats and toboggans again :)
Missing Splash would be disappointing, but we will be happy just to be there. I'm still waiting on school calendars to be released for next school year. Still hoping we will find a warmer time to go so we can enjoy the pools.

We were just there this past January.

Crowds were great. Marathon weekend they picked up a bit but it doesn't look like you'll be there that time. The longest we waited all trip was 20 minutes and that was for the O Canada show!

Christmas decorations should still be up.

The only thing we didn't necessarily like was the weather. It was very back and forth. Our first couple days were great - warm but you still needed to layer a bit in the morning. Other days were downright cold. It was hard to remember we were in Florida! Definitely bring layers. We went to the pool one day but I thought it was too chilly to swim - others in my party still went but it was about 60 degrees, cloudy and rainy.

Splash is usually closed for refurb. It was down for the entirety of our trip - we were there January 5-January 16.

I liked going in January. It really starts to slow down that Monday after New Year's.
